βοΈππ STAY SAFE THIS SUMMER, GREEN & GOLD FAMILY ππβοΈ
With the temperatures continuing to soar across the country, we'd like to remind all of our players, members, families and supporters to stay safe during the hot weather.
Whilst it can be tempting to cool off in rivers, lakes, reservoirs, quarries and other open water, these places can carry serious hidden dangers including:
β οΈ Cold water shock
β οΈ Strong currents and underwater hazards
β οΈ Sudden drops in depth
β οΈ Entrapment risks
β οΈ Difficulty getting out once in
Every summer, lives are sadly lost through accidental drowning, often involving young people who simply wanted to cool down with friends.
π At Kippax Welfare, we encourage all of our players to look after themselves and each other both on and off the field. If you're heading out in the sunshine, please stick to supervised swimming facilities, stay hydrated, wear sunscreen and always let someone know where you are.
Parents, please take a few minutes to have a conversation with your children about the dangers of open water and the importance of making sensible decisions during the summer holidays.
Let's all enjoy the sunshine safely and make sure everyone is back ready to pull on the Green & Gold again next week.
Take care of yourselves and each other. ππ

As the temperature rises, young people are still taking risks in open water.
Throughout this week, we are being joined by staff from St Aidan's to discuss with students the hidden dangers of open water and the potentially life-threatening risks it can present.
By working together, we aim to raise awareness of water safety and encourage young people to make safe choices during the warmer months.
We continue to work closely with St Aidan's and our partners to help keep our communities safe.

If it feels off, say it.
A moment of courage can prevent a tragedy. Look out for your mates around rivers, canals and open water.
π Speak up. Be a mate.

The best mates aren't the loudest - they're the ones who speak up when it matters most. π
As we head towards the summer holidays, we're helping students build their awareness of water safety and the risks that can come with open water. We're delighted to be working alongside RSPB St Aidan's to encourage safe choices, positive conversations and looking out for one another.
If it feels off, say it. A few words could make all the difference.
