I'm a qualified primary school teacher with over 25 years experience in local schools. As a Kip tutor, I now enjoy being able to teach young people on a more individual basis, both in the centre in Alfreton and online through our interactive, learning platform. Even online, I'm 'virtually' right next to my students during their tutor sessions. I'm always thrilled to see how my students flourish as

they work, at their pace, through our English or Maths activities - all relevant to where they are in these subjects at school. It's all about helping them to build their understanding, knowledge and confidence. Before any youngster starts at Kip McGrath, they take a free assessment to help us identify the help they need in either Maths or English. Also there is no obligation to take it any further after the assessment is completed, whatever the result. I'm not in the habit of pestering parents. It's entirely your choice whether you want to book in further sessions for your child.

My Kip story so far...

It seems like a life time ago when I opened the centre in Alfreton on 4th November 2019, just over 5 months ago!

As a primary school teacher of over 25 years, I wanted to embrace a new challenge (teachers never stop learning!) where I could utilise my educational expertise and direct my energy into a new venture. Having taught in a neighbouring Kip centre, I discovered first hand how students’ confidence grew and their skills embedded. I found that it was a positive experience for student and teacher alike.

This motivated me to pursue setting up my own centre. And so the adventure has begun...

I obtained the keys in early August 2019 and from that time on was busy preparing the centre ready for opening. Once the paint was on the walls and the carpet down, I could begin to create the centre that I would be proud of, creating a comfortable learning environment for the students.
