What a year is has been once again! However, we have continued to soldier on through the Covid-19 Pandemic and in the blink of an eye, it's the Summer Holidays! The children have been truly amazing this year and are a credit to us all. They have worked unbelievably hard both at school and at home during our long period of remote learning - a relaxed and fun break is very much deserved! We would also like to thank you as parents and carers once again for your brilliant support, patience and positivity. We understand that these unavoidable disruptions to normal school life haven’t been easy! We hope that you have a wonderful Summer Holiday and we look forward to see you all back at school on Monday 6th September. Let's hope that next year will continue to gradually bring back normality as we knew! Here are 50 fun things to do to help you make some special summer memories together as a family! Let's hope we have LOTS of sunshine!

Kind regards,

Mrs Ross and the Alford Primary School Team

What an amazing out of school achievement for Fliss in Year 3!
Since the beginning of June, Fliss has completed her own ‘WALK IT’ challenge to raise money for Crohn’s and Colitis UK. This is a charity that is close to heart for Fliss and her family, as Fliss has recently been diagnosed with Colitis herself. She completed her mammoth challenge of walking 100.6km yesterday and has raised over £1000 for this worthy charity. All of your teachers and friends at school are extremely proud of you Fliss! What a super star! Crohn's & Colitis UK 🤩🏆

There’s still time to donate to Fliss’ fantastic fundraising total through her online fundraising page on the following link:

"We are passionate about the environment! We have taken steps to reduce our energy consumption, lowering our carbon emissions for our loved local community. We have invested in LED lighting for our school. To help us invest in these energy saving measures, we’ve had grant funding from Smart Energy Greater Lincolnshire. This £8.5 million Smart Energy programme has been part funded by the European Regional Development fund. This is enabling public buildings and small to medium businesses across the Greater Lincolnshire area invest in energy saving technology. This will make a huge difference to our environmental impact and this is just part of our sustainable journey, as we installed solar panels during 2020, which have come into their own this year.“ Smart Energy Greater Lincolnshire

There were some active Mathematicians out in the sunshine in Year 2 today! A variety of objects were hidden outside for the children to find, and then weigh using balance scales. The children were comparing the mass of objects, whilst learning how to use the correct Mathematical vocabulary. What a fun way to develop Maths skills! 🤩🤩🤩
