This is independent work a year 9 student has completed with me today. She was struggling with maths in Year 8 and in set 3. After intensive weekly tutoring with me, being stretched further than she or her parents could have imagined, she is now entering Year 10 going into set 1 with a view to doing Further Maths and A-Level.

I worked with a student today who had recently dropped to a Grade 3 in his GCSE maths and dropped a set after studying Higher GCSE Maths.

Within a relatively short time, I could see the underlying misconceptions that were causing almost everything else to unravel. It wasn't that they "couldn't do maths" - they had a handful of key gaps that had never been properly identified.

It made me realise that many children don't necessarily need more tuition, they really need someone to work out why they're struggling.

That's why I'm now offering Maths Diagnostic Assessments for Years 5–11.

With over 20 years' experience in education as a qualified maths teacher, Head of Department, SENCo and specialist tutor, I'll identify:

✔️ Why they're happening
✔️ What to prioritise next

Each assessment includes:

• Strengths and areas for development
