World Mental Heath Day 2023

We all have mental health

Mental Health isn’t an illness

Mental Health is the current state of how we feel

We could feel low

We could feel like we are languishing

We could feel like we are flourishing

It’s ok not to be ok

It’s ok not to be feeling like the Duracell bunny

We all have mental health it’s what we do each day, the little strategies to ensure we are somewhere between languishing and flourishing.

All of those little micro strategies make a difference

There will be lots of posts today from companies talk about what they have in place to promote good mental health in the workplace

But nothing will replace the strategies that you take to look after yourself.

I’ve been on anti depressants for over 10 years.

Am I ill no?

It just helps me give me that little boost that I need

And that’s ok

6 months ago I was sat in the audience, 6 months later I’m presenting to the audience.

Self Doubt can be the biggest challenge that can prevent us from reaching our full potential.

As Richard Branson says, sometimes you need to say yes to the opportunity and deal with it afterwards.

That’s exactly what happened here and it was ok!

I was thinking today about the power of the people that surround you.

I’ve always heard that you ‘are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with’ and it’s so true.

If you want to change something then surrounding yourself with the people that give you energy and excite you can have so much of a benefit.

You can even do this online, when you log in to your social media do the people that show you up on your stories motivate you or actually bring you down.

Try having a social media clear out, you don’t have to even unfollow them if you don’t want you can just mute them.

So next time you log onto social media, if your lighting up then find people that do.

A potential client asked me the other day how can I actually help through one to one coaching, so here’s how

- I give you the space to share what’s going on in your head. The power of having someone who is impartial to share what’s going on in your world without distraction who’s on your team can really help.

- We would then talk about what’s the end game, what do you want? What are you trying to achieve?

- We would then focus our time on what’s the gap between where you are now and what’s the end goal. We really drill in here, what are the tiny actions which are going to move you closer.

The power of coaching for me is creating mini actions in a safe space.

Everyone knows what to do, you don’t need me to tell you.

But what people do need is space, time and a cheerleader.

That’s why the worlds top performers have a coach, they understand they will get results quicker

Haven’t been on here in a while, but now I’m back with some swanky new photos!

What have I been up-to recently

- Had 3 new clients join recently

- Completed my last module for my HR diploma

- Had a photoshoot done and am really happy with results

- Been out and about meeting prospective new corporate clients

For me it does show that if you put in the work on your long term goals you will get the reward.

There’s no easy fixes, it’s all about consistency.

A growth mindset will always get you where you want to be

People often ask me how I embarked on the journey of coaching and eventually became a business owner.

It's a story that emerged from a blend of experience, introspection, and a genuine desire to create positive change in people's lives.

After dedicating 19 years of my life to the world of Retail, I found myself at the pinnacle of my in-store career as a General Manager of a bustling 7-floor department store.

Yet, amidst the accomplishments, a persistent question lingered in my mind – what's next?

Then, as fate would have it, lockdown unfolded.

Amidst the uncertainty and challenges, an unexpected gift emerged – space.

Like many of us, I found myself with the time to reflect and reevaluate my future.

My fascination with the human mind, sparked by my own journey through mental health struggles a decade ago, had led me down the intricate paths of personal development.

One afternoon, between attempts at homes schooling my 4-year-old, I stumbled upon The Coaching Academy Website.

Within 24 hours, I was enrolled in the Personal Performance Diploma.

I just couldn't believe it – I could turn my passion for helping others into a rewarding profession.

I didn't even know coaching was a thing.

Coaching offered me the avenue to guide individuals toward growth and transformation.

As I write this, I'm now 8 months into my own business journey, and the impact has been incredible.

I not only get to create meaningful change in businesses and individuals but also relish the newfound opportunity to spend quality time with my family.

Yet, the journey doesn't stop here.

My aspiration is to empower more people to become high performers in their own right.

I aim to guide individuals in breaking through the shackles of self-doubt, whether in the workplace or at home and help them achieve the results they truly deserve.

Simply put, I want to make a difference and coaching does work.

Was great yesterday to deliver ‘Raising The Bar: How To Turn Gen Z Employees Into Top Performers’ for Nick Aristodemou MIH and the Harbour Hotel Team.

Lots of reflections and debate

- Should we be adapting our leadership style to suit the up and coming generation?

- Should they be adapting more?

- There’s a difference between ‘listening’ and feeling ‘heard’

The main takeaways for the group

- Creating more step by step guides and instructions to reduce overwhelm

- More structured catch ups with the teams

- Being more clear when speaking

- The importance of creating space
