The children enjoyed our Forest School garden today by exploring the texture and appearance of sunflowers. The children were intrigued with how it felt and fascinated with how big it was.
This was also used for some children to recall past experiences or current with sunflowers growing in their garden.
We read “Little Sunflower book” and extended it by making their own Sunflower pictures.

This our pre-school mud kitchen. This is where the magic happens. The children are always using their imaginations and thinking of their own ideas when creating new things in the mud kitchen.

This supports all areas of learning and as you can imagine used every day. The children also use our Above and Beyond Education Experience, Mr Germ to make sure that the mud kitchen is clean and tidy ready for when they next use it, just like we would clean our kitchens at home!

The children have shown an interest in the book “The Snail and the Whale” The babies were curious when playing with the sand and the texture of it, some even attempted to taste it! We had lots of visuals and real-life pictures so children can see what lives in the sea. This activity helped with the speaking and fine gross motor skills., we looked at the different sea shells and even held them up to our ear to see if we can hear the sea!

Today is National Children’s Day. National Children's Day UK is all about the importance of a healthy childhood, and how we need to protect the rights and freedoms of children in order to ensure that they can grow into happy, healthy adults.

Last week was Mental Health Awareness Week, and the organisers of National Children’s Day want to help to share national concerns about the huge impact of COVID on children’s long-term health and wellbeing and what can be done about it.

The children were showing a high interest in the animals you may see in the woodland. The children then wanted to make their own hedgehogs out of clay, this encouraged the children to use their imagination and creativity when making them.
We also discussed a hedgehogs habitat and when you most likely will see them!

When on a walk lookout for natural resources that you can bring home to create something.
