👮‍♂️🚀✨ Role Model Dress-Up Day at Nursery!

Today, our Pioneers children at Saltway Day Nursery in Bodicote arrived dressed as the people and characters who inspire them most — from family members and community workers to favourite TV characters.

A special highlight was when our policeman and Buzz Lightyear met, sharing plenty of giggles and a friendly hug. There was lots of excitement when the policeman demonstrated his handcuffs, much to Buzz Lightyear’s amusement! 😊

We also had a very enthusiastic witch from Room on the Broom, who was incredibly proud of her costume and eager to have her photograph taken to show off her wonderful outfit! 🧙‍♀️✨

The children spoke proudly about their costumes, sharing why they chose their role models and what makes them special. These conversations helped build confidence, communication skills, and an appreciation for the different people and characters who inspire us.

What a wonderful day of imagination, learning, and celebrating aspirations! 🌟

🌊 Learning about our planet 🌍

At Bees Knees Day Nursery in Reading a small group have been talking about our new adopted turtle! We spoke about its habitat, if it lays eggs or babies and we also talked about the ocean, and how keeping it clean and safe for sea life is so important.
We discussed the vets that support the turtle and other marine life and the importance of keeping our oceans clean. We had some amazing conversations with the children and enjoyed the activities so much that we extended it out to make our display! 🙌🏼

🌍 Sustainability is on the agenda at Complete Childcare.

A small group of our Greenwood managers came together, alongside our Area Managers Pav and Leanne, last week to share ideas, review their Climate Action Plans, and talk about what sustainability really looks like in practice — from the resources on their walls to the habits they’re building with children every day.

We were also grateful to have Martha, who manages one of our Wokingham settings, share her insights fresh from an Ofsted inspection under the new framework. The kind of knowledge that only comes from lived experience — and exactly the sort of thing that makes these conversations so valuable.

This week at Happitots Day Nursery in Winnersh….
In preschool we have been talking about habits that help us stay healthy, such as self-care and an active lifestyle 👍We discussed the importance of having healthy teeth and used role-playing games where the children pretended to be at the dentist’s and showed how they brush their teeth at home 🪥

Today we also celebrated Trooping the Colour, and the children came into the nursery dressed up as kings, queens, and soldiers. They love to dress up, and play pretend using their imagination. They sang the song “The Grand Old Duke of York” and had a great time marching together!🥁

This week in our nurseries ✨

At Bees Knees Day Nursery in Reading, we kicked off our imaginary journey by exploring the oceans 🌊 and ended up at a farm 🚜, creating lots of excitement along the way. To celebrate World Ocean Day 🌍, we set up a lovely activity that the children really engaged in. Later in the week, we had an activity where they rescued small world characters from a spider web 🕸️, aiming to strengthen their concentration and fine motor skills.

At Northumberland Day Nursery in Reading 🌿, the children enjoyed a creative and engaging outdoor activity that made the most of their natural surroundings. They spent time collecting sticks and leaves from the garden and used these to paint with 🎨. It was a fantastic way to combine outdoor play with artistic exploration, fostering both physical development and confidence while encouraging an appreciation for the environment.

At Lower Earley Day Nursery, our preschool children talked about why we brush our teeth 🪥 and how, taking part in an activity to practise brushing teeth using teeth moulds. We also read stories 📚 about brushing our teeth and talked about our toothbrushes at home, our trips to the dentist, and the stickers they received. We have also been learning about safety and talking about our emotions while reading The Colour Monster book.
