Today, we carried out an exciting ice experiment. The ice we put in the freezer yesterday had frozen solid, and each of us received a block of ice to estimate how long it would take to melt back into water. We tried different methods to hasten the melting process, such as blowing on the ice, rubbing it, holding it, and sprinkling salt on it. The children shared their thoughts on how to speed up the melting and suggested times for when they believed the ice would become water. The quickest estimate was 12 minutes, which was achieved by holding the ice in our hands to help it melt faster.
