🏗️✨ DAY 40: OUR 150TH ANNIVERSARY INVESTMENT IS TAKING SHAPE

What a difference 40 days can make!

Since work began in July, our 150th Anniversary Investment Programme has been progressing at pace — and we’re delighted to be slightly ahead of schedule. 🙌

Across the school, spaces are being refreshed, enhanced and reimagined, including the exciting transformation of our Early Years provision. 💛

As we prepare to celebrate 150 years of inspiring young minds, we’re incredibly proud of our history — and even more excited about what comes next.

We can’t wait to welcome our families back in September and reveal the changes! ✨

Today marked the end of another incredible school year and, as always, our final day was filled with a wonderful mix of emotions.

We proudly celebrated our fantastic Year 6 pupils as they begin their next exciting adventure, while also saying a heartfelt farewell to Mrs Langford, Miss Thomas, Mrs Willett, Miss Skelton, Miss Bywater and Mrs Auton. Each leaves with our sincere thanks for the care, commitment and inspiration they have given to hundreds of children and to our whole school community. We wish every one of them every success and happiness in the exciting chapters ahead.

As one chapter closes, another begins. While the school enjoys a well-earned summer break, our project team arrives on Monday to begin the exciting transformation of our Early Years environment as part of our investment in the future. As we prepare to celebrate our 150th anniversary, we’re proving that we’re not just proud of our history—we’re proudly 150 years young, always looking ahead and continuing to invest in inspiring young minds.

Have a wonderful summer, everyone. We’ll see you in September for another exciting year at The Ryleys. 💛🖤

What a wonderful afternoon in Festival Hall! ✨

Our end-of-year celebrations brought together happy families, proud teachers and, most importantly, confident children who took to the stage with enthusiasm, talent and smiles. Every performance was a reminder of just how much our pupils have grown this year.

Thank you to our fantastic staff for helping every child flourish, and to our wonderful parents for your continued encouragement and support.

The celebrations may have begun, but there are still three more days of learning, laughter and making memories before we wish everyone a well-earned summer break!

WOW WOW WOW!

🎪Our very first Ryleys Fest exceeded all expectations!🎪

From brilliant performances and smiling children to families coming together and enjoying everything that makes Ryleys School so special, the whole afternoon had such a fantastic atmosphere. Even one very heavy rain shower couldn’t stop the fun for long! ☔️

A huge thank you to our amazing Social Committee for all the hard work behind the scenes, and to .john83 in particular who kept us all on track! We’re so grateful to everyone who supported, performed, volunteered and joined us.

As part of our continued investment in exceptional early education, we are excited to introduce our brand-new Atelier for children under 5.

But what exactly is an Atelier?

Inspired by the world-renowned Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education, an Atelier is a creative learning studio — a carefully designed space where young children explore, investigate, create, problem-solve, and express themselves through art, design, construction, storytelling, light, texture, and discovery.

This isn’t simply “arts and crafts.” It’s about developing curiosity, confidence, communication, imagination, and critical thinking during the most important years of brain development.

Research shows that:
• 90% of a child’s brain development happens before the age of 5
• Early creative exploration strengthens problem-solving, emotional development, language, and social skills for life
• Children learn best when they can investigate hands-on, follow their curiosity, and express themselves in multiple ways

What's a Zen Den??

At our school, education is about so much more than academic success. That’s why, as part of our ongoing investment plan, we are creating a dedicated Zen Den — a calm, welcoming space designed to help children develop lifelong wellbeing skills.

In today’s fast-paced world, children need opportunities to pause, reflect, regulate emotions, and build resilience. Learning how to manage feelings, handle challenges positively, and take care of mental wellbeing is just as important as learning maths, reading, and writing.

Our Zen Den will support a truly holistic approach to education — helping children grow in confidence, emotional awareness, mindfulness, and self-belief so they can thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
