Size XL, please! 😊

We’ve still got a few spaces on Friday’s XL Sea Glass Pendant workshop. Pick your favourite pieces of sea glass (the blues are tricky to resist!), then make a bold, chunky silver pendant to set them in.

Beginners are very welcome. It’s a lovely day, and you leave wearing something you made yourself.

What a lovely day September's Stacking Ring workshop was! 😊

The plan is usually a set of stacking rings, but this group had other ideas. Everyone made a stack of three, then went on to make a fourth ring for a different finger. I love it when people make the day their own!

Plenty of concentration at the bench: sawing, soldering, hammering texture and setting stones. Plenty of smiles at the end too, as you can see. Look at those hands!

Thank you all for such a brilliant day. I hope you're wearing them with pride.

Fancy making a wave ring? 🌊

Our Wave Ring workshop is back next Saturday 17th October, and we have two spaces left!

You'll shape and hammer silver wire into flowing, organic bands, solder them into a ring that's completely your own, and finish it with a set stone in the colour of your choice. Every ring in this photo was made by a different student, and no two are alike.

No experience needed. Just come along and enjoy a creative day in the heart of beautiful Alcester.

What a joy this morning was!

I had a one-to-one session with Chris, who spent years working in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter. Today he swapped the polishing mop for a piercing saw and made a ring in silver for the very first time.

The chat was just as good as the making. We swapped jewellery stories, talked about how the trade has changed, and how good fine motor skills are something you carry with you across every part of the industry. Years at the polishing wheel has given him steady, careful hands, and it showed!

This is one of my favourite things about the jewellery world. Whether you've been at the bench for forty years or forty minutes, there's always something to share and something to learn from each other.

I still get excited saying this — 11 new beginners through the door, and our weekly classes are officially sold out. 🎉

If you've been thinking about joining us, the best thing you can do right now is get your name down early — waiting lists for January term will be launching soon, and if this term's anything to go by, spots won't hang around.

Hello new term! 👋

This week the studio's been full again — beginners week wrapped up with some gorgeous first pieces, our weekly classes have new starters at the bench, and returning learners have dived straight into fold forming.

It's exactly the kind of week that reminds me why I love this job. New hands learning to saw and solder for the first time, familiar faces back and ready for something more experimental — all in the same room, all cheering each other on.

September is packed with ways to get stuck into silversmithing:
🔨 7th–11th Sept — Beginners Week. Five days, zero experience needed, one finished collection of jewellery to be proud of.
🔨 15th/16th Sept — Weekly classes commence! Back to the bench every week, building skills project by project.
🔨 26th Sept — Stacking Rings Day. A whole day, one gorgeous set of rings, all yours to wear.
Whichever one calls to you, there's a seat at the bench with your name on it.

Gold on silver, with no solder in sight — that's Keum Boo. 🌟

This centuries-old Korean technique fuses pure gold foil onto silver using heat and pressure alone. It's one of the mediums our students got to try as part of a larger mixed metal project running through our weekly classes.

That's what we love about the weekly sessions — every week brings something different. Students get the chance to try new mediums, pick up unfamiliar skills, or simply work in a different way to their usual projects.

Here are just a few of the pieces created so far in the mixed metal project — we'll share more as it develops!

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Open Day today! 🎉 The studio was buzzing all afternoon, and it was wonderful to see so many of you exploring the workbench, browsing the students' work, and getting a real feel for the school.
A special thank you to our students, who did a fantastic job showing off their pieces and chatting so openly about their experience learning here.
