Operating as usual
I wanted to take the opportunity to thank you all for supporting us with our remote learning offer during this lockdown. We understand how difficult this has been, particularly for those who have had to work from home whilst home schooling. The children in school and those learning from home have been amazing. The resilience and perseverance demonstrated by all has been exemplary and we have seen ALL of our pupils engage with learning during this time. All of the staff have worked incredibly hard to enable the children to continue their learning and for this I am very proud.
Next week we are delighted to welcome the children back to school in person. We have been preparing for this since it was announced. It is only natural that children may feel excited, nervous and apprehensive but we will do our best to guide and support the children back into school as we have done previously. Curriculum learning will continue and we will build on core Maths and English skills but we will also work on friendships and reintegrating children back into school life.
I think I have covered most of the details in letters sent last week and details of outdoor learning days today but a few last minute notes:
-You can bring work completed at home back into school. These will be stored in a quarantined location in the classroom.
-We are still in a period of national restrictions, please help us to protect our school community from this virus by following these.
-Drop off and pick up will run as before- please note that there are road closures around Sambourne Lane and Middletown Lane. Please allow extra time on your journey if travelling from this direction.
-Teacher Gmail addresses will be deactivated and correspondence should be made through the office admin address. My Gmail account will remain active.
-We will be looking to have a big push on sports and fitness during the summer term. We will be announcing after school clubs to commence after Easter in due course
-Thank you for booking parents evening slots online. Families with pupils on our SEND register will be contacted by me next week.
Once again thank you for your continued support and I look forward to seeing you next week. Any queries please get in touch. We will get back to you as soon as we are able.
I would like to take the opportunity on behalf of all of the staff and the governors to wish you all a very merry Christmas.
Thank you for all of your support in helping us to abide by the national restrictions and supporting our efforts to ensure that we best minimise the risk of transmission of Covid-19 within our community.
The staff have worked tirelessly to keep up with constantly changing national policies and to do their absolute best for each and every child at Coughton Primary and I couldn't be more proud.
The children have been incredibly resilient and adapted well to the change of routines and constant hand washing and sanitising. The quality of work displayed across the school has been fantastic with more display boards ready to fill!
We are scheduled to return in full on Tuesday 5th January 2021 (Monday 4th is an INSET day). Should anything change I will keep you updated.
For those who have paid for Storytime with Santa tomorrow a link has been sent via your child's Microsoft Teams account. They have been added to a new Team 'Storytime' and the link is on the general page. For families of more than 1 child this has been set up on your oldest child's account. A familiar looking Santa will be reading several stories live from 10am.
I'm now off to put plasters on my blisters. Thank you to everyone that supported the PTA in the Christmas fair and a big thanks to all those that voted for me to dress up as Snow White.

Look forward to seeing you!
Still struggling with my live feed and videos but wanted to provide an update.
The staff have worked incredibly hard to ensure that we are ready to reopen on Monday for pupils in Reception with Year One returning on Wednesday and Year Six returning on Monday.
We have sent out Powerpoints via Teams to Reception and Year One families. You may want to talk through these before returning as things are different in school. Collection protocol is different and staff will guide parents through this next week. Apologies if any of the drop off or collection times have impacted on people's work, however we have to maintain the safety of our families and by staggering drop offs this will mitigate the risk of people queuing by the gate.
Our operation requires all of our staff and all of our rooms so for the children in year groups not returning, teachers will not be able to respond to work/emails during the allotted times as they will be teaching all day, however if you need to email them they will get back to you as soon as they can. They will also be providing weekly learning packs as normal.
I am still responding to email queries about returning to school so don't worry if you haven't heard from me, I have had a number of emails this week and will reply soon.
I look forward to welcoming in those Reception children returning on Monday.
Have a lovely weekend.
Miss you all!!
[05/29/20] Thank you Willow. We miss you all!
Hi all, I will be back 'Live' tomorrow evening with more updates ready for Monday. This week I have been responding directly to email queries from the detailed plans sent out to years R, 1 and 6 about re-opening. We are still awaiting the official guidance for re-opening that was promised today. In the meantime I have uploaded a return to school Powerpoint to Maple and Birch Teams page with images of how the classrooms are set out and more information to go through with the children before returning. Year 6 Powerpoint will be added to Oak Teams next week.
For families of children not in Reception, Year 1 or Year 6 home learning packs will still be distributed every Friday.
Thank you again for all of your support during this uncertain time. Mr Kolb
Struggling with technology which is preventing my live video this evening. Main points as follows.
1. We are starting to use Microsoft Teams as a class catch up video call from next week. All details are in the letter that was emailed yesterday. Each class has a time and if you click on the calendar at the scheduled time of the call it should say 'join'. This is optional but we felt this was a good vehicle for improving the link between home and school. The meeting will only be set up 10 minutes before the start time where I will be waiting. Your child's class teacher and TA will also be on the call.
2. We have been completing our risk assessments and strategies for preparing to open on the 1st June for Keyworker children, vulnerable children and pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6. We will be releasing our plans early next week in a letter as understandably some parents are anxious about what this might look like in school before deciding whether to send their children back in. I must stress also that the 1st June date is proposed and that the 5 tests set out by the Government must be met before schools will be asked to reopen. Thank you for all of your comments on the surveys and for those people who have stated themselves as keyworkers. This has been crucial to our planning and preparation.
Stay safe everyone. It's far easier to do this as a video! Apologies but I feel it is important during these times to keep people updated.
