This week is Water Safety Awareness Week and tomorrow, children will have an assembly to teach them how to stay safe around water.
We will be using the materials from The Royal Life Saving Society.
Please take this time to also share these important messages with your child at home.

Four Hills Education Trust Visit to Parliament
On Friday, we were thrilled to take part in a very special visit to Parliament as part of the Four Hills Education Trust. We were delighted to be invited to join our fellow Telford Trust schools following an invitation from our local MP, Shaun Davies.
During the day, we were incredibly fortunate to enjoy a fascinating tour of the Houses of Parliament, where we learnt all about its rich history and importance in shaping our country. The experience was both inspiring and educational for everyone involved.
We also managed a whistlestop tour of some of London’s most famous landmarks, making the day even more memorable for our pupils.
A huge well done to the six children who represented our school alongside Mrs Tearle – you were outstanding ambassadors and it was a pleasure to share this experience with you, as well as with pupils from across the Trust.
Finally, a very big thank you to Mr Piatczanyn, Headteacher of Meadows Primary, for organising such a fantastic opportunity for us all.
What an unforgettable day!

This term, our Year 5 and 6 pupils have been exploring the topic ‘Our Albrighton’. In Art, we have focused on the work of local sculptor Pat Austin, wife of David Austin.
A few weeks ago, we visited the David Austin Rose Gardens to study Pat’s sculptures first-hand. The children were captivated by their beauty, character, and sense of humour.
Inspired by her work, we have created our own sculptures using soap as our chosen medium.
We would like to thank the staff at David Austin Rose Gardens for their generosity and kindness. On the day, they guided students round the gardens, opening the Lion Garden especially for our group and were incredibly helpful in answering all of our questions. They also gifted all students with their own small resin animal, which we gave them today. Thank you to everyone involved.

Sophia brought in a fascinating collection of skulls and bones from home, thanks to her mum, who is a geologist. The children in Years 3 and 4 were absolutely captivated. Exploring real specimens was a brilliant way to deepen their understanding of the skeletal system, and it added an exciting, hands‑on dimension to their science learning.

KS1 have had a fabulous day at Cadbury World. We began with an exciting rainforest workshop where the children learned about where cocoa comes from, had the chance to smell real cocoa beans, and even hear them rattling inside the pod.
After enjoying our picnics, we set off on the main tour. The children loved tasting some chocolate and sweets, discovering how chocolate is made, and watching skilled chocolatiers at work. The 4D cinema experience was a huge highlight and had everyone laughing and cheering.
We ended the day by watching a range of live skill demonstrations and exploring more about the journey from bean to bar. The children were enthusiastic, curious, and wonderfully behaved throughout — a brilliant day of learning and fun.

On Friday, young Entrepreneurs from Year 5 and Year 6 took part in our Children’s Enterprise, showcasing our school values of aspiration and inspiration.
There were all manner of stall, with a wide range of things on offer, including: loom jewellery, luck dips, baked goods, 3D printed items, raffles, art sets, toys, sweets, homemade cards, games of skill, mystery scoops, keyrings, fidget toys, refreshments and much, much more! The stalls were very popular indeed!
Having paid for their stall, children came from Years 1 to 6 to spend their money, with the stallholders able to keep any profits they made.
Well done to School Council for organising the event, which has raised nearly £200 towards resources for school! Well done to everyone that took part, and a big thank you to all the adults who came and supported them.

⭐ EXCITING NEWS ABOUT FORMER ALBRIGHTON PUPIL, LILLY EDGE ⭐
Lilly Edge has been selected to represent Team GB this August, travelling to Sun City in South Africa to compete on the international powerlifting stage.
She began powerlifting only last year, and after an impressive performance at the national championships, she earned her place on the Team GB Sub‑Juniors squad for August. Her success has continued to build, and she has now also been selected to represent Team Wales at the Commonwealth Games in Winnipeg, Canada, this September.
Lilly currently holds three of the four Welsh records in her category and is determined to keep pushing her progress as she competes at the highest level. These opportunities, however, come with significant financial commitments, including travel, accommodation, and competition costs.
She is fundraising to help make these international competitions possible. Any support, no matter the size, would be greatly appreciated and will directly help Lilly represent her country on the world stage.

Year 1 and 2’s Charity Project this year is The Teddy Trust.
A huge thank you to the children who have donated teddies to the Teddy Trust!
The Teddy Trust collects teddy bears from children around the UK and sends them to children who are suffering. Our teddies could have been sent to one of any 15 of the countries that the charity supports and we are sure that all the children will be so grateful.
Thank you also to parents who were involved. It has been lovely to be able to support a lovely cause that the children really understood and clearly felt strongly about.

As their memorable experience for the Roman topic this half term, the children made their own Roman shields. Once the shields were complete, they went outside and practised some of the key formations used by the Roman army to protect themselves, including the tortoise, the wedge, and the circular defence.
