A message from the heart, from everyone at SPR

As part of Re-Start a Heart Day, we are opening our doors to the community for a completely FREE CPR sessions. SPR is providing this without funding and asking for nothing in return. After more than 30 years as a training business in Lanarkshire, this community has given us so much—and this is one small way we can give something meaningful back.

For us, this is deeply personal. For the past 10 years, the owner of SPR has cared for his father through ongoing heart problems. As these words are being written, his father is in hospital. When someone you love has a heart condition, you understand just how quickly an ordinary moment can become frightening—and how precious it is to have someone nearby who knows what to do.

That is why we have made this session short, practical and straight to the point. You do not need any previous experience. You only need a little time and a willingness to learn. Our hope is that you will leave feeling able to step forward instead of standing back—because, in those vital moments, your courage and knowledge could mean everything to someone and their family.

If you would like to arrange a group booking, please get in touch. Whether we welcome your group to one session or arrange another date that works for you, there will be no charge. We simply want as many people as possible to have the confidence to help when a life may depend on it.

Today, I had to call "999" for my father , I took opportunity to try 911 and it worked, chest pains & breathless - was emergency call.

I checked his Stats, and 80% SPo2 I changed his nasal canculla to a 28% Facemask and 5 litre on O2.

My AED was ready to be deployed.

Scottish Ambulance Service responded quickly and had ambulance with in 8 mins. 999 operator resuree that Ambulance was on route.

90 min wait outside A & E to be admitted to Hospital, and Further 9 hrs to be given bed, he was lucky one he had a room in majors in A & E.

I was fortunate not to need to give my dad CPR but others have not been so I will share this lino for support.

I am ok, today took toll on me and my mental health, when you dealing in a stressful situation is bad enough but dealing with your own father has additional overheads.

The adrenaline is worn off, panic attacks started and was physically sick.

I managed to calm down, Dad's in ward and settled for night as he can be.

Am now watching TV to relax.

It's ok to not be ok, but I am OK now.
