Can you help us locate the owner(s) of these poor little fellows that seem to have made themselves at home in Airdrie Library? If you were the owner (or parent of), please get in touch with the library to collect them.

We have had word back from the council... and we can reopen the 21st of September!!
A few weeks later than we had hoped, but we would still love to see everyone there, at 10am.

We can't wait to see you all.
The kettle will be on and plenty of toys, arts and crafts and much more for the children.

See you all the 21st of September!

Apologies for the late notice, but there has been confusion with the let this morning and cròileagan is unable to open.
The dates have been mixed up and there is no-one to open the centre.

Please forward over to anyone you know was meant to be here this morning and please accept our apologies for this mistake.

Our FREE Club 365 Activity Programme will open daily for the school holidays - Thursday, 29 June, to Sunday, 13 August.

Primary school children entitled to school meals can turn up and enjoy lunch, sports and fun activities.

NLC currently have a questionnaire out looking for information on GME.
Please ignore the nasty comments from a select few, who do not understand the benefits of having this option available and would rather see our children have a lesser education to satisfy their beliefs and anger.

Can you share your views on Gaelic Medium Education in North Lanarkshire?

As part of our current Gaelic Language plan, we're asking for your thoughts on our current provision and any expansion in our schools and nurseries.

Take the survey 👉

Tomorrow is our last play date before we step away for our summer holidays. We look forward to seeing you all there and hopefully see you all at fèis at the end of July.

Obh, obh - tha a' chuileag garbh a-nochd!
Oh dear, the midgies are bad tonight!

Although meanbh-chuileag (tiny fly) is the official Gaelic for midgies, everyone understands what 'a'cuileag' is!
Though she be but little, she is fierce!

Here are some more beasties to look for in this lovely weather. Growing up we called a wee beastie a 'piulan'.

Save the date!

Industrial Action - Tuesday 28 February and Wednesday 1 March 2023

Further industrial action over the national pay offer has been announced by teacher unions, the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS), the Scottish Secondary Teachers’ Association and the National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers (NASUWT) on Tuesday 28 February and Wednesday 1 March 2023.

- All primary, secondary and ASN schools will be closed to pupils.
- All 57 term-time, school-based nursery classes will be closed to pupils.

The exception is that the 23 family learning centres and 23 full-time nurseries will remain open on both days.

The intended school closures may mean that you will need to consider additional childcare arrangements over these dates.

There will not be any school meal provision on site, school transport will not be running and there will not be any breakfast clubs or school crossing patrols on the outlined dates of intended strike action on 28 February and 1 March.

Families in receipt of free school meals based on low income will be reimbursed via a direct payment to bank accounts or via Paypoint voucher to postal addresses which may take up to five working days.

This is a situation that may be subject to change and parents/carers will be informed at the first opportunity if there are further changes to the school day.

Pronouns - mi, thu, e, i, sinn, sibh or iad?

An important early step in any language is to learn pronouns - Gaelic also distinguishes between 'you' on age, rank, number etc.
In most languages the personal pronouns are learnt in a certain order so we'll keep the same to make life easier. These are the basic pronouns. You will soon notice that gaelic often 'absorbs' pronouns into e.g. prepositions so we end up with prepositional pronouns but we'll deal with some of them another day. Suffice to say, this is important so just a little list to learn off by heart tonight:

mi = me/I
thu = you (sing, friend, younger person, 'Tu' in French)
e = he/ it
i = she/it
sinn = we
sibh = you (plural, polite. 'Vous' in French)
iad - they
So just learn 'mi, thu, e, i, sinn, sibh, iad'

Tha mi air a' bhus - I am on the bus.
Tha thu air a' bhus - You are on the bus.
Tha e air a' bhus - He/It* is on the bus.
Tha i air a' bhus - She/It* is on the bus.
Tha sinn air a' bhus - We are on the bus.
Tha sibh air a' bhus - You are on the bus.

* Depends on whether the noun is masculine or feminine.

Lots of new Gaelic audiobooks for you to listen to - there are hundreds of books to listen to and they are being added to all the time.
