EASTER COOKERY CLASSES LIVE ON ZOOM WITH TUTORS
We have a fab range of cooking classes planned for the Easter holiday break and a few places available at some classes.

You may notice that the plan offers a lot of savoury options (which is in fact intentional!) as your feedback so often expresses gratitude for savoury dishes and we are trying to encourage our students to try new less-sweet recipes. Of course there are some sweet treat classes and they are well deserved too!

I have planned the classes so that next week’s finish just before lunch and the w/c 12 April finish just before dinner....so your lunch or dinner may be cooked for you!

Also, some classes will have special coverage of more advanced skills such as knife skills and kitchen-safety with using the oven and hob as highlighted; these are perfect for teenage students wanting to broaden their skills.

So, Ill let you have a look and hopefully we’ll be cooking along together over the Easter break.

The Easter holiday plan is as follows and bookings can be made at www.bookwhen.com/sassystirrers

6th April Easter Egg Brownies
7th April Sticky Sausage Oven bake with salad –SPECIAL KNIFE SKILLS & KITCHEN SAFETY
8th April Muffins drizzled with salted caramel.
9th April Crunchy Chicken/Vege Nibbles with salad
12th April Healthy chocolate cookies with cheats pizzas
13th April Sticky Mexican meatballs with rice –SPECIAL KNIFE SKILLS & KITCHEN SAFETY
14th April Sticky caramel & pepper chicken/tofu with noodles –SPECIAL KNIFE SKILLS & KITCHEN SAFETY
15th April Creamy salmon oven bake with butterscotch mousse pud

Dear all,

Cook4Care is looking for volunteers to join our mission!

Cook4Care is a registered charity in Surrey, which supports young carers and their families by providing home-cooked, nutritious meals 2-4 times per week in order to ease some of the burden on children who often care for their parents and their siblings. With an estimated 140,000 young carers in Surrey alone, there is a real need to help these young people, especially since the pandemic. Started by two mums from St George’s College, Davina Davie and Maria Corry, Cook4Care has grown really quickly over the past three months and our food has been a lifeline for many families.

We are currently asking for people with an hour or two to spare each week to help us with cooking or delivering meals from January 2021. If you are interested in getting involved, or would like more information, please contact us at [email protected].

Fr Adrian Cadwallader cj RIP

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Fr Adrian on Tuesday 3rd August. Fr Adrian had been cared for at Sunbury Nursing Home for some time.

Fr Adrian joined the Josephite's in 1956 having been a pupil at the College. He took his final vows as a Josephite in 1961 and was ordained in 1965. The Josephites and St George's owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to Fr Adrian for his many years of devoted service. Among his interests were table tennis, horse racing, bridge and stamp collecting. His annual pilgrimage to Lourdes with Across was a major highlight of Fr Adrian's year.

Everyone who wishes to can attend the funeral of Fr Adrian. Chasubles will be provided for priests wishing to concelebrate. Deacons will need to bring their own white vestment.

Fr Adrian will be brought into Chapel at St George's College at 5.00pm on Sunday 22 August where he will remain overnight.
Fr Adrian's funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10.30am in the Chapel at St George's College on Monday 23rd August.

Interment will take place immediately after the Mass in the cemetery on our hand pulled bier.
Light refreshments will be available after the interment in the Activity Centre at the College.

It is the intention to live stream the Mass and interment. If you wish to watch the live stream, please use this https://sgcvle.fireflycloud.net/parent-information/live-sessions/funeral-of-fr-adrain?bblinkid=253123125&bbemailid=33016595&bbejrid=2048539135

If you would like to attend, please drop Fr Martin an email [email protected] to enable us to organise catering on the day. Those attending will need to bring a face covering (mask) and keep one metre away from people who are not in their immediate bubble.

Please keep Fr Adrian, his family and the Josephite Community in your thoughts and prayers.

Antony Hudson and Fr Martin

We couldn't mark the end of the Summer Term without sharing this lovely short film of Fr Martin and Antony Hudson sharing thoughts and memories from the last 36 years.

‘Why now?’ we hear you ask. The end of this term marks Mr Hudson's length of tenure matching that of Fr Martin: 18 years each; 36 years between them.

Spotlight on: College scholastic activities

College students have been showing their scholastic prowess this term with a whole host of competitions, projects and challenges.

The end of term Trumanoke Trophy was hotly contested by Lower Sixth Historians and saw solos and rehearsals this year, and it was a joy to see KS3 students celebrating their lockdown Book Bingo achievements in the library last week, with some reading as many as 25 books over the six week lockdown and an impressive average of more than 6 books per person. The library was also home to a beautiful display of 'Maps as Art' from this term's Third Year extension program, which sensitively addressed topics including deforestation.

Well done to all students who took part.

We were delighted to see National Inter-School Championships going ahead this year, giving our pupils the chance to experience the fun and excitement of competing, albeit remotely!
The General Knowledge quiz saw Year 5 and 6 pupils competing against more than 40 others schools by Zoom, while budding Year 6 Mathematicians were able to take part in a Maths Challenge with one team reaching the National Finals!

Happy St Joseph's Day!

Today we celebrate St Joseph, Patron and Protector of the Congregation of Josephites which underpins the distinctive ethos of St George’s Weybridge.

When Pope Francis formally inaugurated his papacy in 2013, he told the crowd in St. Peter’s Square “St. Joseph appears as a strong and courageous man, a working man, yet in his heart we see great tenderness, which is not the virtue of the weak, but rather a sign of strength of spirit and a capacity for concern, for compassion, for genuine openness to others, for love.”

The Josephite ethos and family spirit is still very much alive at St George's today, something of which we are very proud.

Our Story

St George's Weybridge is proud to have a reputation for being a friendly school where all students are individually known and valued equally whatever their strengths and weaknesses. Great care is taken by the teaching staff to ensure that all students develop into confident and compassionate individuals, which will prepare them to play a responsible role in the shaping of society.
