Ready to explore?

This half term, our Junior School Year Six pupils have been extending their understanding of map skills, building on their global location work from Year Five. They've been busy reviewing four and six-figure grid references, getting to grips with OS symbols, map scales, 16-point compass directions, drawing a map of their local area and planning a route around Weybridge.

We're in safe hands!

It was wonderful to welcome parents to the Junior School for our Year 3–6 Concert. From Adele to classical favourites, the pupils performed a fantastic range of music, showing lots of confidence as they played for their families. 🎶

A huge well done to everyone who took part. It was great to see the children sharing their love of music, with lots of support from families and some well-deserved high fives from their friends!

As we head towards half term, the House points are already rolling in!

With a different House activity every week, from chess to table tennis, debating to Lego, indoor climbing to poetry, there really is an opportunity for everyone to get stuck in and earn much-coveted House points during the year.

A highlight of this half term has been the First and Second Year House runs, which take in a loop of the grounds. Well, not all 100 acres! It was magical watching students cheer on their House mates, some of whom they're only just starting to get to know, and watching the extra bursts of speed it encouraged.

When we come back, we look forward to House basketball, art, badminton, Ready Steady Cook, quizzes and gingerbread man decorating. Bring it on!

Our Fifth Year students enjoyed a taste of life in the Sixth Form today. They took part in four subject taster lessons, heard from our Sixth Form student panel and experienced one of our regular Tuesday lectures, designed to spark curiosity and explore new ideas.

Today’s lecture featured guest speaker and polar explorer Alex Hibbert, who captivated students with stories of his incredible Arctic adventures, including his record-breaking 1,374-mile journey in extreme conditions, facing freezing temperatures, limited food and the threat of polar bears!

A huge thank you to Alex for sharing his inspiring story and reminding students of the importance of resilience, stamina and determination in achieving their goals.

It was a day full of discovery for our Fifth Years, giving them the chance to explore new subjects, hear from current students and imagine their own next steps into Sixth Form life.

Our College rowers set themselves a huge challenge – a sponsored row covering 1700km, the distance from the St George's Boathouse to Lucerne, Switzerland! 🚣

With 90 students taking part, they showed fantastic teamwork and determination, smashing their target by rowing a total of 2,350km and raising an incredible £5,000 for charity.

A brilliant effort from all involved - well done Team SGC!

Rowing is a Games option at the College for all students from the Summer term of Second Year ( Year 8 ) right through to Sixth Form. We make the most of our boathouse on the Thames, and when the weather or river conditions are against us, move to the purpose built gym in the College Activity Centre. So whether students are trying the sport for the first time, or looking to compete at the highest level, there's a space in the rowing programme for everyone.

From relaxed lunchtime recitals to larger concerts, including our annual Scholars’ Festival, our Music Scholars have plenty of opportunities throughout the year to perform and share their love of music.

We recently welcomed families to our Music Scholars’ Teatime Concert at the College, where 15 fantastic performances showcased the talents of our incredible soloists and ensembles.

It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the students’ hard work, build their confidence and see them continue to grow as musicians.

Our First Years recently headed off to High Ashurst on their very first College residential trip.

From climbing and high ropes to orienteering and fire-lighting, there were plenty of opportunities for adventure and teamwork, which our students fully embraced!

In First Year, every form group is assigned two tutors, ensuring we quickly get to know every student. As Jess Pye, Head of First Year, commented: “High Ashurst gave tutors a wonderful opportunity to see their tutees in a different environment and appreciate strengths and qualities that are not always visible in day-to-day school life.”

As students' confidence grew through shared experiences and tutor groups bonded through the retelling of adventures (and plenty of funny stories), it was wonderful to see our newest Georgian community coming together as they settle into life at the College.

We offer scholarships in Art, Drama, Music and Sport, which recognise previous achievement, acknowledge existing excellence and show the importance the College places upon various areas of the academic and wider curriculum. We are also delighted to consider students for Academic scholarships, following an excellent performance in the entrance assessment.

The scholarship application deadline is this Thursday 15 October at 5pm.
