Today we are celebrating Founder's Day and our Josephite ethos. It's the special day each year when we encourage all in our Georgian Family to make a donation, big or small, to support our Bursary Fund. All donations will support our commitment to a future where admission to St George's Weybridge is based solely on a child's ability to thrive, and not on financial means. This year, we are getting the Schools' Houses involved, and we're challenging them to get as many people to donate as possible...

Hi everyone,

My name is Hanya Kamhawi and I am a 2016 graduate from SGC.
Following the current events, I would really appreciate it if you could take a minute to read and sign the following petition:
St Georges Alumni are competing each week in a 5k run against other public schools.

So far 4 OGs have ventured out Martin Threakall (our star runner), Simon Ludlam, Gerard Thompson and Matt Crawcour. We note down our best 5k for the week and register the time online. At the end of each week the results are totted up.

Anyone with an attachment to SGC can enter, past and present pupil, staff and pets.

So if you are going out for that evening jog or early morning run and you have saved the time why not send it in?

Results for last week below – I know, we could do better but we need some younger legs!

Anyone interested do let me know Simon Ludlam [email protected]

From the organiser David Jenkins:

“A good turnout last week with numbers almost reaching 200 and 11 teams competing, including a king and three saints. Its worth noting that cross country running is probably now the only organised (well, vaguely) sport allowed.

Fierce competition for the 4 to score podium. Giggleswick showing strongly for number of entrants. Warwick fielding a strong team. Wi******er finding it difficult to only run or at least register 5kms.

The virtual almost became reality when Wellington and Wi******er met at Denbies Vineyard, with Clearwater Bay in HK another potential duplicate. Other notable locations were Long Itchington, Wolfgangsee, and large numbers on Ilkley Moor, The exact location of the treadmill in Ho Chi Minh city is not known.

Detailed results attached - as always, you are welcome to check and advise for errors.

I found this after moving house. Michael Self died a few years ago, leaving a young daughter, I've tried to track down his family to send them this & a few other Georgian bits. He was originally from Wrexham & died in Bath, about 12 years ago. I found the funeral parlour but they couldn't help, all suggestions welcome.
Happy St George's Day!

Good luck to our College student Oliver who has been chosen to accompany the England Rugby team onto the pitch at the World Cup England vs. Chilie match on Saturday afternoon at 4.45pm.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Oliver was selected from thousands of entries in a global competition run by the team sponsor Land Rover titled "Defenders of Tomorrow", a programme that aims to inspire future generations to effect meaningful change on and off the pitch.🌏

Oliver's video entry eloquently described his weekly meetings with the elderly community through the College's SVP club. He shares how these interactions allow him to connect with the past by hearing their stories, offering him a unique perspective on history. He believes that this insight into the past is a valuable tool for shaping a brighter future.⭐

Well done Oliver, we are all so proud of you, enjoy your moment at the match on Saturday!🏉

Mr Antony Hudson announces his retirement after an outstanding 20 years as Headmaster at St George's Junior School.

As we approach the start of a new academic year, we have some important St George’s news to share.

Mr Antony Hudson, our Junior School Headmaster, has announced that he will be retiring in two years’ time. His announcement comes as he celebrates 20 outstanding years in post, and we’re sure you’ll join us in extending our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Mr Hudson for his dedicated service.

Mr Denis Nowlan, Chair of Governors, shared the news by email with parents yesterday, and which you can also read in full on our website here: https://www.stgeorgesweybridge.com/news/37.

Within his letter, Denis movingly wrote: “Antony’s Headship has been characterised by his total dedication to pupil well-being, giving each child a sense – in the Josephite, Catholic tradition – of ‘coming home to school’. On behalf of the whole Board of Governors, I wish to record our heartfelt gratitude and admiration.”

St George’s have engaged Perrett Laver, an outstanding executive search agency, to support the search for a successor and anticipate an appointment by July 2024.
