There’s just over one week left to book your tickets for our Junior Production, The Laramie Project, in the Meeting House on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 June, from 6.30pm–8.30pm.
Directed by Ali Boucher and performed by a talented cast of students, mainly from Years 7–9, this moving and thought-provoking production explores how a community responds to tragedy, prejudice and loss through the voices of real people.
Our young actors have embraced this challenging piece with remarkable maturity, dedication and courage. Over the past few months, they have worked incredibly hard to bring these stories to life, demonstrating not only their growing performance skills but also a deep understanding of the themes at the heart of the play.
We are immensely proud of what they have achieved and would love to see the school community come together to support them. Whether you have a child in the cast or simply enjoy great theatre, this promises to be a powerful, memorable and rewarding evening.
We hope you will join us for what is sure to be a very special production.

Everyone at Ackworth is wishing Darcey (Year 7) the very best of luck this weekend as she takes to the stage at London’s Trafalgar Theatre for the National Finals of the National Youth Monologue Competition.
After an outstanding performance at the Regional Finals in Crewe, Darcey earned her place as a finalist in the Key Stage 3 Classical category and will be performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
With almost 4,000 entries from across the country this year, reaching the final 100 is an incredible achievement. We are so proud of Darcey’s hard work, commitment and talent, and we know she will do herself and Ackworth proud.
Good luck, Darcey – we will all be cheering you on! ⭐🎭

🌿🏆 We are delighted to have achieved the Woodland Trust Green Tree Schools Gold Award! 🏆🌿
This award recognises our commitment to helping pupils and students build a meaningful connection with nature through a wide range of activities, from planting hedgerows and supporting biodiversity to exploring woodland themes through words, images and outdoor learning.
At Ackworth, we are incredibly fortunate to have such beautiful outdoor spaces on our doorstep. Our grounds provide rich opportunities for learning, discovery and wellbeing, allowing pupils and students to experience nature first-hand and develop a deeper appreciation of the world around them.
As June marks The Wildlife Trusts' 30 Days Wild campaign, it's a timely reminder of the benefits of spending time outdoors. Here at Ackworth, however, connecting with nature isn't something we save for one month of the year - it's woven into school life all year round.
A huge thank you to everyone who has helped us achieve this fantastic recognition. 🌳💚

📚🐝 Words came to life at Coram House today as pupils from Reception to Year 6 celebrated our Dress as a Word Day, alongside the final of this year's Spelling Bee!
From 'athletic' and 'shimmering' to 'studious' and many more imaginative choices, children showcased their creativity and love of language through fantastic costumes and expanded their vocabulary along the way.
Adding to the fun, staff each wore a letter, challenging pupils to work together throughout the day to solve a mystery 14-letter word. The excitement and teamwork on display were wonderful to see!
Well done to everyone who took part in a day dedicated to celebrating the richness, creativity and joy of the English language.

The PSA uniform shop will be open tomorrow (Wednesday 3 June) between 8:30 am and 12:00 pm. If you are unable to visit during the opening times, you can email [email protected] with details and sizes of any uniform needed.
Located opposite School in the old nursery building and with a large selection of excellent condition, pre-loved uniform including sports kit, this is a great opportunity to save money, support the PSA, and reduce the impact of garment production on the environment.
Donations of any pre-loved uniform no longer needed can also be dropped off at the shop when open or into the baskets in School reception.

This month brought two special occasions for our Year 11 and Year 13 students as they celebrated the end of an important chapter at Ackworth School.
At both the Year 13 and Year 11 Leavers’ BBQ, there was plenty of laughter, memories shared and the traditional signing of shirts as students marked the end of their time together at school.
Year 13 enjoyed time to reflect on the friendships and experiences that have shaped their journey, while Year 11 celebrated at the Ultimate Merit Awards ceremony, brilliantly led by Matt Sanderson and filled with warmth, humour and genuine celebration.
As both year groups now turn their focus fully towards exams, we wish them every success and hope they approach the coming weeks with confidence, resilience and belief in themselves.

Before heading off on study leave, our Year 11 and Year 13 students came together for Prize Giving - a chance to celebrate all the effort, commitment and determination they’ve shown this year.
It was lovely to recognise so many individual achievements and to reflect on just how hard these students have worked in their subjects.
The ceremony was made even more special with beautiful musical interludes from Year 13 students Alara and Alexandria, accompanied on piano by our Director of Music, Oliver McCarthy-Bell.
We’re incredibly proud of every one of them and wish them all the very best as they make their way through the exam season. Keep believing in yourselves - you’ve got this!

Year 10 student Zarah continues with her outstanding achievements in football!
After signing a two-year contract with Leicester City earlier this year and overcoming the challenge of a fractured back with remarkable determination and resilience, Zarah is now reaching another exciting milestone in her football journey.
Zarah was selected for the Wales international squad and is currently halfway through a seven-day tour in Spain with the national team - an incredible honour and a reflection of the hard work, talent and commitment she continues to show both on and off the pitch.
This latest achievement adds to an already fantastic season, which has included:
⚽ Making her debut for Leicester City’s Under-21 squad against Birmingham City
⚽ Representing ISFA against Manchester United Under-16s
⚽ Returning to full training and competition after injury stronger than ever
To represent your country at international level is something very special, and everyone at Ackworth School is delighted to see Zarah thriving and enjoying such an amazing experience in Spain.
We can’t wait to see what the future holds for her - and we’ll all be cheering her on every step of the way!
Well done, Zarah!
