***SCHOOL CLOSURES ***
If you’re wanting a bit of a break from home schooling and feel your child(ren) could do with some input from a qualified maths teacher, I have increased availability for individualised and interactive one to one tuition for primary and secondary ages.
Sessions will be online via whichever platform you prefer (Skype, Zoom, Microsoft teams, Google Meet, FaceTime) and can be weekly/fortnightly to help keep up with the curriculum or stand alone sessions to support with a particular topic.
If you’re interested, I’d love to hear from you - please get in touch. 👩🏼🏫 ➕➖✖️➗

***EXCITING NEW OFFER***
I have taken on another tutor to help offer more availability. He will be working in the primary sector initially and will be offering sessions at a reduced rate of £20 per hour. Get in touch if you’re interested.

Many will be experiencing the ‘back to school’ feeling today as they begin half term 2. The start of a new term is always a great opportunity to knuckle down and do all you can to achieve the results you’re aspiring for. We’re already more than one sixth of the way through the academic year! Time flies so act now rather than later.

Happy half term to those of you breaking up today. That makes you 1/6 of the way through this academic year! Time flies! I still have a week to go at the school I work in as a professional tutor and Miss Walsh Maths will stay open for business.

Here we go with the answer. Moving one unit from the 23 and placing it horizontally across the two units on the right hand side of the equals to form a pi sign makes 22 divided by 7 which equals 3.142.... which rounds to 3.14 to 2 decimal places: same as the most common rounding of pi. It is only true(ish) as pi is infinite.

Solving Sundays. Can you balance this equation so it makes a mathematical statement that is true(ish) by moving just one of the full length cocktail sticks? You are not allowed to make the equals sign into a 'is not equal to' sign. I will post the answer later this evening. Happy solving!
