S6 pupil Jack Bungey has had a very busy and extremely successful March. Competing at the Lochaber Music Festival, he won the John Whyte Trophy for his solo performance on the baritone, before going on to win the Lochaber Young Musician of the Year competition on the piano.
The following week, he travelled to Inverness to perform in the Highland Young Musician of the Year competition. Having been a runner-up last year, he was delighted to be announced as this year’s winner.
Congratulations Jack!

Further success for Sealladh at the Lochaber Music Festival.
Sealladh were awarded first prize in the Folk-group competition at this year’s Lochaber Music Festival. Their beautiful rendition of ‘Òran don Mhorbhairne (Song for Morvern) and ‘Chuir m’ Athair Mise Dhan Taigh Charraideach’ (My Father sent me to the House of Sorrows’), not only ensured that they retained the ‘David C. B. Maitland Memorial Quaich’ for a second year running, but so impressed the judge and chair, that they were invited back to perform their winning songs during the closing concert on Thursday evening. ’S math a rinn iad a-rithist.

AHS and Strontian Primary School & Nursery pupils were bold as brass, and walked away with the silver at the Lochaber Music Festival last week.
Our young brass players, all members of Sunart Brass, stole the show on Tuesday with fantastic performances earning them 1st place in 6 different classes, and claiming all 3 trophies that were up for grabs:
The J.R.G Bruce Trophy for Brass (for the highest score across all beginner and elementary brass classes)
The John Whyte Trophy (for the highest score across all of the intermediate and advanced brass classes)
The Royal Bank of Scotland Trophy (for the best woodwind or brass ensemble)

📣 School Transport Update – Lochaline Bus
Please be aware that the Lochaline school bus will be running approximately 45 minutes late today.
This is due to the ferry being off, meaning the driver has had to travel around the loch.
Thank you for your understanding.

📣 Shinty Update
Due to staffing and weather conditions, Under 14 shinty is cancelled this evening.
✅ Adult shinty will still go ahead as planned.
🏑 We are also hoping to keep primary indoor shinty on – we will update if anything changes.
Please pass this on where needed.
Thank you.

We are thrilled to share some fantastic news — Ardnamurchan High School has been awarded not one, but TWO Gold Awards in the same week!
We have received the Gold School Sport Award from sportscotland, as well as a Gold Shinty School Award from the Camanachd Association. This is a wonderful recognition of the hard work and dedication of our pupils, staff, and the wider school community.
To achieve Gold status, the school had to demonstrate strong practice across physical education, clubs, competitive sport, leadership, and clear pathways to keep young people active for life. Our close links with Ardnamurchan Camanachd have been a big part of this journey, with shinty now part of our PE curriculum and the school hosting the Donella Crawford Shinty Tournament.
The awards were celebrated during our two-day Health and Wellbeing Festival, which featured rugby, shinty, and football sessions led by local coaches, as well as input from local employers, the NHS, High Life Highland, UHI, and Lochaber Women's Aid.

📢 Youth Club Update (Tonight)
Please note that there will be no Ardgour bus for Youth Club tonight.
We have been advised of ferry issues, which are expected to delay the school bus collection by around 1 hour. This has had a knock-on effect on the Youth Club bus, so it has had to be cancelled for tonight.
Sorry for the inconvenience!
