When Director Dave Faulkner-Cross started PWDirect, he made himself a promise.

Although I was a top-performing student at school, I didn't get the exam results I hoped for, so I joined a Youth Training Scheme (YTS) – the Apprenticeship equivalent of its day. What could the future of Apprenticeships look like? 🚀

This week, the Government announced proposals that could expand Apprenticeship opportunities for thousands more young people across England.

If implemented, the plans include:

📈 Up to 50,000 new youth Apprenticeships by the end of this Parliament

🎓 A new Apprenticeship bursary to help remove financial barriers for some young people

🤝 Stronger links between education, employers and local skills needs, helping more people progress into skilled careers

💷 More investment in skills & training

These proposals build on wider Apprenticeship support already being introduced and highlight the growing importance of Apprenticeships in developing the skilled workforce of the future.

🌟 Meet Joey, a hospitality apprentice who continues to grow from strength to strength

There’s plenty to celebrate at Giggles Play and Adventure…

Joey has officially completed his Level 3 Hospitality Supervisor Apprenticeship with NLTG and achieved a brilliant Distinction! 🏆

From supporting customers to working alongside his team, Joey has continued to grow throughout his Apprenticeship, developing the skills and confidence to make a real difference in his role.

Starting his journey with his Level 2 Food & Beverage Team Member Apprenticeship, Joey has shown what can happen when you keep learning, take on new challenges and commit to improving.

His dedication is clear through the support he provides to his colleagues and the excellent customer service he delivers every day.

This International Self-Care Day, we’re encouraging our NLTG community, learners and staff to take a moment to reflect on their wellbeing.

As part of our July to September Safe, Equal and Well theme: Greater Understanding of Mental Health, we’re continuing to promote conversations, learning and support across our centres through activities, e-learning and resources for both learners and staff.

Self-care doesn’t have to mean big changes. Sometimes it’s the small things that make the biggest difference. 🌱
