Today, a group of children who have been taking part in The Linking Network enjoyed a special visit to Ribblesdale Nursery School and Clitheroe Castle, with Katie, Lyndsey and Sacha, to celebrate the completion of our project.
We thoroughly enjoyed our bus journey into Clitheroe before taking a walk up to the castle. There, we explored the grounds and spent time playing together in the park. Afterwards, we walked back to Ribblesdale Nursery School, where we explored their nursery environment, shared a picnic lunch and enjoyed spending time with the friends we have made during the project.
The children behaved wonderfully throughout the day, and we are incredibly proud of them all π
This year, the children have really enjoyed taking part in the Linking Network project. It has provided valuable opportunities to explore the world around them through key questions such as:
β’ Who am I? π€ β thinking about what makes us who we are
β’ Who are we? π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ β exploring similarities and differences between people
β’ Where do we live? π‘ β learning about our local area and community
β’ How do we all live together? π€ β understanding how we can live, play and work together fairly and respectfully

This week in our woods project, the focus was on developing the childrenβs independence and confidence. The children were encouraged to make their own decisions about what they wanted to do, exploring their interests freely in the woodland environment.
We had so much fun mud painting, creating natural paintbrushes, searching for mini beasts, and enjoying everything the natural world has to offer ππΈππͺ΅

Pond Project πΈπ¦π
Next week, the children will be visiting a local garden centre to choose plants that will help attract more wildlife to our pond.
This week, the children have been busy preparing the soil, getting everything ready for planting. They worked really hard as a team and showed great enthusiasm for the project.
After all their efforts, the children enjoyed a well-earned rest by the pond with a biscuit πͺ

This Weekβs Woodland Adventure π²π΄ββ οΈ
This week, the children became pirates on an exciting adventure in the woods! We discovered a mysterious treasure map and used our telescopes to carefully follow the clues as we explored our surroundings. After lots of searching and working together, we were thrilled to finally uncover the hidden treasure!
This session encouraged the children to step outside of their comfort zones, building their resilience, independence, and confidence while exploring the woodland environment. Most importantly, we had so much fun along the way!

π³Our woods project
Before half term Mondayβs group went on a colour hunt around the woods, searching for a variety of natural objects π. The children enjoyed exploring the environment and identifying different colours in nature.
On Tuesday, the windy weather meant our plans had to change, but we still had lots of fun making wind sticks π¬οΈ. Each child found their own stick and used a range of materials and natural objects to create patterns. We then tested our wind sticks outdoors and observed how they moved in the wind.
Both groups enjoyed hot chocolate and a biscuit for snack, which was a lovely way to warm up β.
We canβt wait to see where our project takes us next. Here are a selection of photos from fun before half term.
