Learn to Learn Day
On Tuesday 29th September all students took part in an engaging Learn to Learn Day, focusing on developing two effective revision and study skills - mind maps and flashcards. During the morning, students explored how to create quality mind maps and flashcards and then in the afternoon they put these ideas into practise in each of their lessons. The idea behind the day is to help students organise information, improve their memory and become more confident independent learners.
The day encouraged students to think about which revision techniques work best for them and how they can use these strategies effectively in their everyday learning. The day provided a valuable opportunity for students to develop practical skills that they can use across all subjects and throughout their education.

Yesterday, our year 10 GCSE Music class took part in the first of 3 song writing workshops with professional musician and songwriter, Nick Hall. The project is kindly sponsored by Community Rail Lancashire who have asked Nick to work with our year 10 musicians to collaborate on two songs to be performed on Lancashire Day (27th November) to celebrate 25 years of Community Rail in Lancashire. The creative project is entitled Voices of Community Rail in Lancashire. We're thrilled that our students' work will be performed publicly and they have got off to a flying start after the first workshop. We can't wait to see how the finished products sound! More to follow....

We’re delighted to announce that LET Education Trust has been shortlisted for the WOW Recognition Award at the Educate Awards 2026, celebrating educational excellence across the North West.
The nomination recognises our 2025/26 'Year of Kindness' initiative delivered at Rhyddings and The Hollins High School, which saw pupils turn compassion into action through community projects, fundraising, volunteering, creativity and advocacy.
From creating 106 pieces of artwork for the Kindness Umbrella Project to raising £2,376.52 for East Lancashire Hospice through the Mount Snowdon Kindness Challenge, our pupils have shown the incredible impact that kindness can have.
A huge thank you to everyone who has helped make the Year of Kindness such a success, and most importantly to our pupils for leading the way.
We’ll find out if we’ve won at the awards ceremony at Liverpool Cathedral on Friday, 13 November.
