Leading the Change for a Safer, Focused Future 📱🚫
At LET Education Trust, we are incredibly proud of James McBride, Headteacher at West End Primary School and Chair of the Church and Oswaldtwistle Cluster, for his leadership in the "Smartphone Free Childhood" movement.
James recently spearheaded a vital event at Accrington Stanley's Stadium, bringing together educators, health professionals, and policymakers—including MP Sarah Smith and Esther G**y (founder of the Brianna G**y Legacy Project).
The goal is clear: to protect our children from digital harm, improve mental health, and ensure our classrooms remain places of focus and connection. By encouraging a delay in smartphone use until at least age 13 or 14, we can help our students thrive both emotionally and academically.
We are honored to have leaders like James driving this conversation forward for our schools and our community. Together, we are working toward a brighter, safer future for every child in our Trust.

It is with truly heavy hearts that we share some very sad news. Our much-loved Let’s Be Legend, Mabel, has sadly passed away at the incredible age of 106.
Mabel has been a cherished part of the Let’s Be story since its very beginning in 2016. She was adored by our pupils, who were captivated by her warmth, her wonderfully funny stories, and the wisdom she so generously shared. We feel incredibly privileged to have spent such precious time with her, learning from her life, her laughter, and her kindness.
Mabel’s legacy will live on in everything we do, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the joy of knowing her.
In tribute, all Let’s Be activities this year will be dedicated to Mabel, and we will be launching a special initiative in her honour.
