As part of their work placement with Earth Trust, our Sixth Formers have been designing and creating botanical-inspired products as part of a real-world enterprise project.

Students will then develop their products as part of the Unicorn Student Enterprise, taking responsibility for branding, packaging, marketing, and sales. The finished products will be sold through Earth Trust's Farm Shop, Café, and Vegetable Box Scheme - and you might also spot them at student enterprise pop-up events throughout the year. We'll take one in every colour, please!

Our Head of Marketing, Fundraising and Communications, Katy Crowe, is once again lacing up her running shoes in aid of The Unicorn School! On 11th October, Katy will be running the Oxford Half Marathon and fundraising for Phase 2 of our Ock Mill expansion. The LAMDA results are in! We're delighted to share that we have a 100% pass rate once again, with 94% passing with distinction and 6% merit.

We have been even more ambitious this year with a new syllabus and more advanced grades - including one student achieving a Bronze medal award worth 10 UCAS points before they have even started their post-16 education. Amazing work!

Our new Sixth Formers are completing a work placement with Earth Trust this year. In their first week, they harvested flowers and vegetables, which they will be using in their community project to create a range of delicious nibbles to cater the KS5 parents' evening.

It was lovely to catch up with parents and carers at the first drop-in coffee morning of the school year. Our tight-knit Unicorn community (pun intended) doesn't just extend to the pupils, but to the families and staff as well - one of whom created our adorable unicorn tea cosy!

We're back!

The new school year has begun and we were delighted to welcome both familiar (although everyone seems to have grown so tall over the summer holidays!) and new faces this morning. As usual, Briggs was on hand to make sure everyone felt supported as they came back to school.

One new Year 7 pupil was asked in a PSHE lesson to name the best things in her life. Her answer?

"Coming to The Unicorn School."

What a lovely way to start the new academic year!

🎉 We're incredibly proud of our students and their exam results this year.

Our results reflect both the resilience of our young people and the impact of our specialist, nurturing approach. Through bespoke learning, students have gained the confidence, skills and qualifications needed to take their next steps.

Highlights include:

• 100% Grade 4+ in Art, English Literature and Geography
• 70% Grade 4+ in English
• Top grades 7, 8 and 9 achieved across nine subjects
• More than a third of students achieved four or more Grade 4s (or equivalent)

While we celebrate these excellent results, what makes us proudest is the confident, kind and determined young adults our pupils have become. 💙

These achievements reflect far more than academic success. They are a testament to the perseverance, growth and character of every learner, supported every step of the way by our dedicated staff.

We are a specialist, independent day school for children aged 7 to 16 years who have Specific Learning Differences: dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).

Yesterday we hosted 16 students from the The University of Texas at Austin and their professor. They are in the UK on an AIFS (American Institute of Foreign Study) programme touring different schools and educational settings. They had a tour of both of our sites and heard talks on our UK SEND system, our specialist offer, our therapies and mental health support and our use of assistive tech.

It was a joy to welcome them back to The Unicorn School for the 4 year in a row! We can't wait to see you again next year.
