📚 2026: The Year of Reading
The government’s announcement of a Year of Reading in 2026 is welcome news - especially for the thousands of children who are falling behind not because of ability, but because of the barriers that disadvantage puts in their way.
With a national focus comes a powerful opportunity. And a chance to make real change for children who need it most.
At Quest for Learning, we’ve been tackling this issue head-on for 30 years in Oxfordshire. And we’re excited to help more schools make 2026 as successful as possible in helping children.
💡 Our specialist literacy programmes deliver, on average, 13 months of progress in just 10 hours of tuition.
💡 We offer targeted interventions, expert tutor support, and CPD for staff.
💡 We partner with schools to strengthen their reading strategies, with a focus on inclusion, confidence, and impact.
If you’re a school leader planning for 2026, or working on your reading provision now, we’d love to talk.

🎉 A huge WELL DONE to the children at Stephen Freeman Primary School in Didcot!
18 brilliant pupils have just completed our reading tutoring programme - and we celebrated with a special assembly, a certificate for each child, and a book to take home (thanks to the generosity of Hachette Book Group UK❤️).
We’re so grateful to The Didcot Powerhouse Fund for funding the programme - and especially to chair Elizabeth Paris DL and Deputy Mayor of Didcot David Rouane for their support. Thanks also to the Didcot Library team, who joined us to help the children sign up for their very own library cards 📚✨
We’re proud to be helping children build the reading skills and confidence they need to thrive - in school and beyond.
👏 Great job, Stephen Freeman readers!

Today we celebrate National Poetry Day! 🙌 🎉
Aiming to inspire a love of poetry, this annual event provides a fantastic opportunity to explore and celebrate poetry which is a wonderful way to introduce children to the rhythm, sound, and structure of language.
Through rhyme, repetition, and playful words, children develop an ear for language, which enhances their phonemic awareness and vocabulary. This is especially helpful for early readers as they begin to recognize patterns and sounds. 📙 📗

We were really impressed to hear that a teacher from one of our long-term partner schools won a recent Farshore Reading for Pleasure award - what a wonderful initiative aimed at recognising educators who go above and beyond encouraging a love of reading among their pupils.
By celebrating passionate teachers, the award helps to highlight the importance of fostering reading as a lifelong habit. 📚
