Roll, squish, press, repeat. β
Playdough is a real powerhouse for little hands, and our little angels have been busy rolling, squashing and pressing out shapes. All that pinching and squeezing builds the small muscles that one day grip a pencil, while cutting out stars introduces shapes and patterns along the way. Calming, creative and quietly building so many skills, it is a nursery favourite for good reason.

Lost in the lovely business of drawing.βοΈ
Look at that concentration. Our little angels can happily lose themselves in making marks, and every swirl and scribble is doing important work. It is building the hand strength and control that real writing depends on, sharpening focus, and giving little ones a way to share the ideas buzzing around in their heads. Give them paper and something to draw with and watch the magic happen.

A tiny visitor, a great big moment. π A ladybird landed on one of our little angels and the wonder on their face said it all. Getting close to minibeasts out in the fresh air helps little ones learn about the natural world, builds gentle, caring hands and sparks all sorts of brilliant questions. How many spots does it have? Where is it going? Where does it live? Curiosity like this is where a lifelong love of nature begins.

What numbers can you see? π’
Our little angels have been getting to know their numbers by tracing the chunky wooden shapes and having a go at making the marks themselves. Feeling the curve of a number with their fingers helps it stick in a way a worksheet never could, and copying those shapes is early writing and early maths rolled into one. Spotting numbers all around us is the very first step towards counting, sorting and so much more.

Gruffalo Crumble... π«
Our little angels have had their sleeves rolled up making chocolate cornflake cakes, and there is real learning folded into every messy mix. Spooning and stirring strengthens little hands and wrists, following the steps builds listening and confidence, and there is early maths hiding in all the counting and measuring. The smiles when they spotted the finished cakes were the icing on top.

Our little angels have been getting wonderfully stuck into some big, bold brushwork, and there is more skill in it than meets the eye.
Sweeping a loaded brush across the paper uses the whole arm and shoulder, building the strength and control that smaller, neater movements grow from later. Choosing how much paint, how hard to press and where the next stroke lands is creativity and decision making in full flow. Process over picture, every time.

Every line tells a storyποΈ
There is so much thought behind those careful red strokes, and our little angels pour real imagination into their drawings long before anyone can say exactly what they are. Holding and guiding a crayon builds the grip and control that handwriting will need one day, while turning ideas into marks on paper is creativity and early communication taking shape. We love watching a picture come to life, one proud line at a time.

There is pure joy in watching a floaty scarf drift through the air, and our little angels have been leaping, reaching and twirling to catch theirs. Movement play like this builds balance, coordination and core strength, all while little ones learn how their bodies move through space. It is dance, it is exercise, and most of all it is brilliant fun.

Dive in, the ocean has come to Marcham... π
Our little angels have been exploring an under the sea world full of turtles, octopuses, dolphins and one rather friendly lobster, all set in crinkly blue waves and rice. Small world play like this is wonderful for language, as little ones name each creature and dream up watery adventures of their own, and the different textures keep busy fingers exploring too. A whole ocean to discover without getting your toes wet. π
