Why yin yoga is the perfect practice for winter — and why Friday evenings are ideal As the days grow shorter and colder, many of us naturally crave slower movement, deeper rest, and practices that help us reconnect with ourselves. Kino MacGregor is one of the world’s master yoga teachers, so it was a real pleasure to attend one of her ashtanga workshops at triyoga Camden, London, this weekend.

Meditation, discussion and asana practice… loved every second; even holding chaturanga (low plank) for five long breaths 😀😅

There is always something to be thankful for in every situation. Gratitude is always an option even if sometimes we have to search for it. Maybe all the strength we cultivate in yoga counts when we have to make our minds strong enough to see that goodness in every situation.

There are times when I find it difficult to feel gratitude. But I treat it like my yoga practice, and I do it with a kind heart and discipline. Actually when I wake up in the morning and when I go to sleep at night I like to think of three things I’m grateful for, kind of like counting my blessings. Try it and let me know how it goes.

I’ll be teaching all weekend. Spots still available for tomorrow night.

Then, it’s Stockholm, Sweden next weekend. Come practice!

Thich Nhat Hanh: 'Father of mindfulness' Buddhist monk dies aged 95 22/01/2022

Thich Nhat Hanh, the Zen Buddhist monk and peace activist, has passed away peacefully today at the age of 95. He has written many books about mindfulness, meditation, peace and happiness. I often use his inspirational words of wisdom in my breath meditation classes.

Here is one of my favourites: Reflections of the Heart

EVERYTHING – THE TREES, the wind, the birds, the mountains, everything inside us and around us – wants to reflect itself in us. We don’t have to go anywhere to obtain the truth. We only need to be still, and things will reveal themselves in the still water of our heart.

Today marks the start of Mental Health Awareness Week and this year's theme is nature.

Here are some of the ways that spending time outside in nature can benefit your mental health:

🌳 It can improve your mood
🌱 Helps reduce your screen time
🌿 Reduces your feelings of stress and anger
☘️ It can give your mind a break from decision-making
🌷 It can help you connect with others.
