Massive congratulations to all our beginners who smashed their red belt gradings this week. It's never easy starting something new as an adult, but we're so pleased at how hard they all worked to get to the first step on the ladder!

Congratulations to .judo who won Gold 🏅 at today's London open Senior competition. Well done to Martin and Anton who also competed. No medals bit some good judo from Martin and lesson learnt from Anton who picked up a boo boo. We hope you have a quick recovery Anton🦾 and well done to Anna who smashed it 💪

Well done to Anton for his bronze medal 🥉 at the Rod Lane Championships this weekend. He managed to fight back from a sprained ankle and man flu to smash it 💪 and get on the podium

A massive congratulations to .judo who becomes our newest 1st Dan at . Anna won all her points at national competitions and finished off with a fantastic theory exam back in July. And who says contest players don't know their theory?! 🤣 All the coaches are incredibly proud of how Anna's judo has grown and improved over the last few years. Absolutely smashed it 💪

A huge congratulations to Sensei Mark Maidment, Abingdon Judo Club founder, who has been promoted to 6th Dan by the BJA Grading board in line with the European Judo Union grading criteria. This is an honorary grade awarded for a person's achievements as well and knowledge and participation in Judo. This comes after over 50 years in Judo, including over 40 years of coaching. Sensei Mark has had a huge impact on many judo journeys and is still teaching children in schools and when time permits, at Abingdon Judo Club
