...at the going down of the sun, we will remember them.
Nyojitsu Wales
Separating Martial from Art - Nyojitsu - Our proven and evolved system of defence and restraint I said "about 20 years". Perhaps my math is a little out! Tony
A student asked me once "How long have you been in martial arts?". "Oh" they replied, "but didn't you start even before you were 5 years old?"
I did indeed start young but I was asked that question over a decade ago when I was 45 years old. It still fascinates me that there has been no time since then where I have not found space to train. Even when being away in places to work which by necessit
Just dropping by to say "hi"
Hi!
Seriously there's not enough hours in the day. If you do Social Media, how on earth do you find time to edit and post and do all that is needed "to maintain a presence". Hats off to all of you who do!
.now I'm off again. Two hours of dog training next.
But before I go. If you want to get involved with Nyojitsu or just ask questions then DM me. It's no bother and I'll always answer so long as I'm in signal (Welsh hills can be the death of mobile signals 😂!)
Until then if I don't see you out with the pack, I'll See You On The Mats!
Cheers all!

Some of the images from the day.. because "obviously" every Martial seminar must involve Tomahawks, daggers, dibbers and hammers.
Well. This one did anyway 😇

Looking forward to seeing you all on the mats very soon!
Cheers!

Getting closer.
One week Saturday and we're On!
Water supplied, bring your own lunch. Order in the Radox 😂
Nyojitsu. What the hell is that all about then? Obviously it's some ego driven made up thing to coin it in yeh... Ha! Err. No.
Virtually every martial practice on the planet has evolved from something. Be that base need for primary preservation, martial practices (IE war), control of/ restraint over a third party..
Take your pick but which ever way you slice it, ALL martial practice evolved out of need for one skill or another.
Messing about during the nineties we needed a system that could be used to rapidly "desuade" an aggressor. It needed to be blunt enough to do a job quickly, but pliant enough that it could be used without necessarily killing the opponent - unless that was absolutely the end game as like most "martial" practices it also meant it had to be suitable for potential military use, but still soft enough to arrest someone with such force as necessary.
The available answers back then didn't lay in UK military "Unit Aikido" (though useful when delivered well) Aikido itself didn't carry the depth of simple solutions. UK police had Taihojutsu (for us it lacked aggression) Aikijutsu had many answers as had traditional Japanese Jujitsu. Chin-na & Hapkido would've been useful but those options weren't widely known (don't forget up into early 90's we had a distinct lack of internet resources!). I'd also spent a few years messing about with Shotokan & Wado' which I enjoyed immensely, simultaneously practicing Judo (have been since aged 5!) & boxing (practitioner, time keeper and judge). During all of these years I felt I had to ask much of my instructors. Not "what if" questions - "how can I improve this" enquiries. My instructors would mostly deflect... Sadly, you quickly realise that stylistic perfection has little to do with actual combat (I'm pleased several renowned practitioners now deliver what "sport" karate cannot!).
15 years we worked, tested, practiced, evolved & worked it more.Today Nyojitsu has been quietly active for over a decade! 👊🙏
Almost time for our invitational Easter seminar!

Page restrictions.
Apparently this page won't be recommended as it does not meet community guidelines?
Well.
That is a bit disappointing.
And confusing.
The page stats tell us "no violations" no strikes.
.But we don't meet community guidelines - and we won't be recommended because it's to keep folk safe.
Our very core is about keeping people safe!
Unlike the hackers that screwed the private accounts last year and previous because all of that was ok. Their actions meant we couldn't reach out to veterans suffering PTSD nor could they reach us. At least one of you has gone permanently off line - so publicly - ZEB! If you read this get in touch dude, just let us know you're alive and well ok. If you want to stay anonymous that's cool and no problem at all - you know this)
The same hacker(s) used that profile to post links for foreign p**n and we couldn't challenge them because FB said they "had to protect people's accounts.."
And WE don't meet community guidelines??
We'd love to promote Nyojitsu Wales to more folk around the UK, Europe and beyond. Share this post if you're feeling brave (who knows what you may attract lol!) and please feel free to reach out, repost or hook us up to friends.
I do what Isay, and say what I do.
No bs. No egos. No politics.
Sound good?
See You On The Mats!
