Today we said goodbye to seven very special pupils at Abermule school…our year 6 leavers!

We had a whole school assembly this morning where the leavers read their memories, received their leavers hoodies and most importantly their self portraits made by our Reception children in Dosbarth Bala. We had a special treat watching the year 6 talent show and a very funny short play about teachers in the staff room… it brought a lot of smiles and laughs to our staff and pupils! They enjoyed a yummy, table dining lunch with Miss Williams and finished the day ringing our school bell.

We are all so proud of you and how far you have all come on your own journeys with us at Abermule. You are all wonderful, unique and have the potential to achieve all the dreams and goals you told us about in your leaving memories. We wish you all the best of luck as you head to secondary school, we know you will smash it and continue to thrive.

From all of us at Abermule, diolch and hwyl fawr 👏

Have a safe and wonderful summer holidays and we look forward to welcoming current and new pupils in September.

🐻🧺 Teddy Bears Picnic 🧺🐻

We had a great day in Dosbarth Bala enjoying our Teddy Bears picnic, here are a few pictures from our afternoon. We made party decorations, crowns and bear biscuits. We took part in a class ‘bear’ hunt using clues to find our teddies which were hiding around the school. We finished our day with class hide and seek, party games and dancing on the field ☀️

🐾 Well-being Wednesday 🐾
Today we had our second visit from Miss Hughes’ dog Luna for our Well-being Wednesday session. Pupils in Dosbarth Bala had wrote letters for Luna after her first visit and today they shared them with her by reading their letters. Luna went home feeling very loved with lots of beautiful cards and pictures from the children.

Luna played mums, dads and dogs in the role play area, had some delicious mud cakes made for her in our Messy Mud Kitchen and sat and listened to a story. We finished our day in the garden, with a special farewell to Miss Renney, our PGCE student who has been with us for the past 10weeks.

[07/05/21]   To all Dosbarth Vyrnwy parents,

I have been made aware of a typo on the letter sent out after school regarding the school trip to Mr Fairweathers garden!

I can confirm that the trip will be on Wednesday 7th July! So your child/children will need to bring a packet lunch and be wearing suitable footwear and clothing

Miss Morgan 😊

Dosbarth Clywedog have been working very hard over the past few weeks to plan a whole class assembly for Dosbarth Vyrnwy and Dosbarth Bala. They all chose pieces of work they were proud of from their topic ‘Watch me Grow’ this term and shared them with us all.

We all really enjoyed seeing their work and the amazing job they are all doing. Da iawn and diolch Pawb 😀

What a beautiful, sunny day Dosbarth Bala have had at Dolforwyn Castle. We explored the castle, had a picnic, played a class game of ‘capture the flag’ children VS adults, hide and seek and made some observational drawings of their favourite part of the castle.

We finished our day with ice lollies to cool us down when we got back to school ☀️

Wow what a fantastic day we have all had in Dosbarth Bala, Vyrnwy and Clywedog for our whole school Wheel-athon 🤩 It was a great turn out and all the children did amazing.

Here are a few snapshots from our day in Dosbarth Bala with the Wheel-athon and a trip to the park.

[05/27/21]   Please remember to bring your 'wheels' with you tomorrow and note the following;
BALA to put wheels in Bala's garden
VYRNWY to enter school via the yard tomorrow and leave wheels in the bike shelter
CLYWEDOG to leave wheels on the grass by the classroom then line up at the front door as normal

Photos from Abermule Primary School's post 25/05/2021

The count down is on to our Wheel-athon with 3️⃣ days to go.
This afternoon Miss Hughes and Mason delivered a whole school assembly to raise awareness about Alopecia. Mason did a fantastic job reading ‘Finns first day’ to everyone. With the help of our CHEO (school council) we spoke about important key words to remember, some of which were:
-‘unique’, we are all brilliant and unique in our own wonderful way, which is a characteristic we celebrate and admire with all of our pupils in Abermule.
-‘Kindness’ to always be kind, use kind words and kind actions towards ourself, our friends and community.

Mason gave each class a book to take away and read together from Alopecia UK which we are all looking forward to reading. Da iawn pawb 👏

[05/25/21]   Dear Parents, Please note that due to an IT upgrade we will not have access to emails until later in the week, therefore please contact the school office on 01686 630 240 and leave a message or message us via Facebook.
Many thanks

17/05/2021

We feel very proud to share this supportive message from Matt Lucas for our 'super cool' pupil Mason. On Friday 29th May, we are holding our annual school fundraiser event, Abermule Wheel-athon in order to raise funds for our school and a very special charity, Alopecia UK.

For our Wheel-athon this year, our CHEO (school council) representatives have chosen the theme 'Wear what ever you fancy/fancy dress theme'. ALL pupils are able to bring a bike, scooter, skateboard...anything with wheels to take part in our event by seeing how many laps around the school you are able to do! With the only rule being, you MUST wear a helmet.

Please tell family, friends, neighbours about our event to be sponsored. We hope to raise lots of money with the school funds going towards new playground equipment chosen by CHEO and a percentage of money going to support children with Alopecia.

I have attached our wheel-athon poster in the comments below, please contact the school office if you need a new sponsor form.

Miss Hughes and Mason will be delivering a whole school assembly to inform and raise awareness about Alopecia using our new story books for children from Alopecia UK.

We look forward to sharing our event updates with you very soon.

We have all had such a lovely week in Dosbarth Bala, with too many wonderful photos to share ☀️

We have started our new topic ‘Watch Me Grow’, we are focussing on growing our growth mindset to help develop our confidence, independence & resilience towards learning.

This week we completed our first mindfulness jigsaw session using a chime bar to help us learn new breathing techniques.

To help us with our topic, we have been busy in our garden planting potatoes, potting sunflowers and investigating our class tadpoles. Miss Hughes and Miss Davies have recently completed a BusyFeet for schools course so we did our first outdoor p.e session this week to get active.

We set ourself the challenge today to work as a team to put up our new outdoor shelter. We had lots of fun and spent the whole day outside ☀️

We hope you have a lovely weekend and we look forward to another wonderful, upcoming week!

Miss Hughes ☀️

[04/14/21]   100% attendance at school yesterday and today, what a great start to the term, keep up the good work everyone 👍😊

This has been a very exciting week for us at Abermule school as we started to make steps towards embedding and implementing the New Curriculum for Wales.

Miss Hughes held a training morning for the staff at Abermule primary school to inform them about the New Curriculum and we began work on our school vision.

As a team we came up with values which are important to us in the design of our curriculum, I have listed a few below:
-Belonging
-Happy
-Engaging
-Creative
-Meaningful/purposeful
-Fun
-Inclusive
-Respectful
-Unique
-Opportunities
-Play
-Outdoor learning
....and many more!

In a very exciting and fundamental period for education in Wales, we believe it is important that the local community are involved in our journey. In the upcoming weeks, Miss Hughes will be holding 2 sessions on the New Curriculum in Wales for our school Govenors and our parents/carers to help you gain a greater understanding of the changes which will be taking place. We would love as many of you to join and be apart of creating our ‘school vision’ at Abermule Primary.

Well what a busy week we have had in Dosbarth Bala! 🌼 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 📚

We’ve had lots of fun learning about St David’s Day this week through our class topic-Wales. We had the challenge of painting a daffodil independently in our creative area, we made St David’s day poems, created a digital picture of a daffodil on Hwb and investigated Wales on the map and where we live.

On Thursday we celebrate World Book Day and came dressed as our favourite book character. We shared a story with our friends and linked with Dosbarth Clywedog to share a story with the children in school and at home. A big thank you to everyone who took part, we really enjoyed listening to the older children read to us.
