In Clywedog, we are using the GROW model to help learners take ownership of their learning. By focusing on ‘feedforward’ rather than feedback, our conversations are purposeful, meaningful and focused on the next steps.

One of the key strands supporting this approach is our use of digital ‘live’ advice. Through digital tools, pupils can access timely feedforward comments, reflect on their learning and respond to next step challenges independently. This helps make learning conversations more accessible, while encouraging learners to take greater responsibility for their own progress.

Open Morning – 14th October

We are delighted to invite prospective families to our Open Morning on 14th October.

This is a wonderful opportunity to come along, meet us and discover everything our amazing school has to offer.

Whether you are new to the area, have a child looking to start with us during this academic year, or are considering a place for September 2027, we would love to welcome you.
We currently have spaces available across all year groups.

This afternoon as part of our workshop, Dosbarth Vyrnwy explored the shape art of artist Andy Goldsworthy, taking inspiration from his beautiful natural artwork. 🌿🍃 The children then got creative and had a go at making their own shape art, experimenting with different materials, patterns and shapes.

We loved seeing everyone’s unique ideas come to life! ✨

Miss Gibson has been spending Thursdays and Fridays this month up in North Wales training to become a Forest School Leader, and what an exciting and hands-on experience it’s been so far! 🌲🪵

From learning how to safely build and manage fires, using tools such as axes, and cooking outdoors, to developing new skills and exploring the endless learning opportunities that the outdoors can offer🔥🍃

Forest School is all about giving children the opportunity to explore, take risks, build confidence, develop independence and learn through nature and hands-on experiences. We are really looking forward to bringing these new skills and ideas back to school and creating more exciting outdoor learning opportunities for the children. 🌿✨

Also on Friday we celebrated our Seren Yr Wythnos superstars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Those of you who are eagle eyed will notice that some of the certificates look a little different… this is because we are trying to link our stars to something called ‘The Four Purposes.’
The four purposes of the Curriculum for Wales are the core foundation and shared vision guiding all teaching and learning for children and young people. Each week our class teachers and Head’s certificate will link to one of the following:
• Ambitious, capable learners, who are ready to learn throughout their lives
• Enterprising, creative contributors, who are ready to play a full part in life and work
• Ethical, informed citizens, who are ready to be citizens of Wales and the world
• Healthy, confident individuals, who are ready to lead fulfilling lives as valued members of society

In addition to Clywedog’s performance of Yellow on Friday, the children took part in yoga activities, crafting, and colouring. We also had an assembly all about positive mental mindset and what to do when we’re struggling.

On Friday we celebrated Hello Yellow Day for mental health. All week Clywedog have been secretly working on a surprise flash mob for our Seren Yr Wythnos assembly. Here is our dress rehearsal. 💛💛💛
