The Dram Queen, Ann Miller, Master of the Quaich, shares fun independent Scotch whisky experiences

08/03/2026

Happy International Women’s Day to all the women who contribute to the story of whisky.
Let’s celebrate the craft, the character and the stories of the women who have contributed to so many drams over the centuries, as well as all those making and blending great whisky today. Whisky is so much more than just a drink.

Join me at “Speyside's Whisky Women by the Dram Queen” during the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, to explore their stories and celebrate their achievements.

A passion for learning about whisky is all you need to gain the EWA qualification in the Sensory Appreciation of Scotch whisky with The Dram Queen.

As these three whisky enthusiasts discovered, I’m serious about making Scotch whisky fun. I'm keen to share my passion and enthusiasm for Scotch whisky education from an independent perspective to ensure that it is always well informed and engaging.

Over two days Mathew, Mark and Luke sampled a wide range of samples as we explored flavour origination in the production and maturation process of Scotch whisky. In a series of blind tastings, they tested their ability to identify a wide range of aromas. As they discovered how to judge and score whiskies in an unbiased manner, they were able to apply these techniques to writing some impressive tasting notes with increasing confidence. We went on to explore the world of pairing food and whisky which resulted in some inspiring suggestions.

Do you have a thirst for knowledge? Please contact me to find out more about immersive courses, Dram Room Tastings or Private Bespoke events tailored for novice drinkers and experienced whisky consumers.

I would like to thank everyone who sent me good wishes on my recent birthday which I appreciated very much.
This year it was an unexpectedly quiet celebration as I woke up that morning to discover that I had lost my voice altogether and I'm still waiting for it to return properly.
An eyesight problem since the start of the year has prevented me from driving and limited some activities for a few weeks.
Now I'm looking forward to remedial treatment in a couple of weeks and returning enthusiastically to hosting a full range of Dram Room Tastings and Bespoke Private Tastings.
Slainthe!

Dram Queen or Snow Queen?
Well wrapped up to enjoy our winter wonderland here in Speyside with the dogs today. Now it is definitely time for a dram to provide some internal central heating!
