SUMMER READING CHALLENGE
We’re throwing down the gauntlet and issuing a summer reading challenge to our whole school community: Pupils, staff, family, P7s of our primary schools - everyone!
Inspired by our public libraries’ own summer reading challenge (for which anyone aged between 4 and 11 is eligible to complete, so check out your local library!), this summer we are reading to the beat. All you have to do is read a book and curate a playlist of music for one of the characters – music you think the character would listen to – and share the finished result with us.

INTERHOUSE MERITS - MAY
Rinnes continue in poll position throughout the exam period. From the period 1 May to 30 May, a total of 373 Merits were awarded across the school. Well done to everyone who received a Merit. Remember that at the end of the term, if you have attained 20 or more Merits, you will receive a voucher for a snack of your choosing from the canteen.
A total of 7449 Merits have been handed out to young people since the start of the 2025-26 session, based on how well they have embodied the Speyside High school values: Ambitious, Responsible, Respectful, and Creative. A different value is chosen each month to be the focus of their efforts, with Merits awarded accordingly. The school value for May was "Responsible", and the value for June is "Respectful".
Congratulations to all young people who have embodied our School values so far this session, and a special well done to those members of Rinnes house who continue to lead the way. Can Fiddich or Livet take first place in this last month of the 2025-2026 session? The finish line is in sight!
WORLD CUP DAY
To mark the start of the World Cup we are hosting a non-uniform day to celebrate all things World Cup. Young people are invited to wear something to support their team in the World Cup that day.
A voluntary donation will also be able to be made in school. This should take the form of some dry food goods and will be donated to Moray Food Bank.
READING SCHOOLS BOOK CLUB PARTY
Venue Update - Please note that there has been an amendment to the venue for the Reading Party taking place between 1330 and 1400. The party will now take place under the covered archway outside of the Technical department, at the entrance to the school courtyard.
