A hugeWELL DONE to Bea! You absolutely deserve your DISTINCTION result at grade 1 :) This isn't a recent photo, as we haven't seen each other in such a long time! A big thank you for all your hard work and dedication.

A very happy Easter to all my lovely piano students and their families. I hope you ate LOADS of chocolate :) Here is an Easter themed photo courtesy of Bea and her piano-loving cat, Cocoa! See you all soon!

[11/24/20]   🎵🎹 Another two results in, and huge congratulations to Ruby Jenkins and Lois Jeremiah who both gained DISTINCTION results at grade 2 piano. All these children have transitioned brilliantly to online lessons and absolutely deserve their fantastic results. 🎶🎼

This is Olivia playing All Is Calm. What a beautifully sensitive performance, and very deserving of her distinction result!
I would also like to personally thank Coach House Pianos for supplying Olivia with a lovely, affordable instrument. It makes such a difference, particularly with the move to online lessons.

[11/06/20]   🎹🎶🎵🎼A massive well done to the following students on their wonderful results this term:
Erin O'Gorman - Grade 4 Distinction
Olivia Fisher - Grade 5 Distinction
Seren Howells - Grade 6 Distinction
Lloyd Jeremiah - Grade 6 Merit
Stella McCloy - Grade 8 Merit

Still a few to come in! I'll post some clips of their brilliant performances in the coming days. Well done everyone. You've excelled during a very difficult time and adapted to your online lessons brilliantly.

So, how do online lessons work? Lots of you have asked this question.
In order to ensure that online lessons are the very best quality and my students' learning experience is excellent I use:
🎹 A BRAND NEW Kawai Silent Grand Piano which is either linked directly to my laptop or used acoustically
🎙A high quality external microphone
📽 3 cameras for the perfect angle
🖥 A MASSIVE screen behind my piano so that I can always see my students' playing in detail.
💻 A laptop so that I can make lesson notes as we go along.
📽 Students now also receive a video of their lesson to watch back during the week.

No expense has been spared to ensure that these lessons are absolutely top quality. Online lessons can be really brilliant but don't take my word for it - try it out!

Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain

“Anatomists today would be hard put to identify the brain of a visual artist, a writer, or a mathematician—but they could recognize the brain of a professional musician without a moment’s hesitation.”
― Oliver Sacks, Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain
