The fire warning came out in Welsh first, with the English version following a few minutes later.

“But most of us speak English…”

And? 😅 We are in Wales. Welsh is an indigenous language of our country, and it is absolutely right that it is seen, heard and used prominently here.

Lesson of the day: perhaps “Dw i’n dysgu Cymraeg” deserves a place on the essential life-skills list. 🔥😂

Learn Welsh before you perish in a fire, flood or zombie apocalypse. 😂🧟‍♀️🌊🔥

Hi, I’m Sara, the owner of Daffodil Welsh Language Childcare in Abergavenny.

A little about me and my service:

• CIW registered
• PACEY insured
• Fluent Welsh speaker
• Qualified HLTA with Level 3 SEN training and a CertHE in Childhood and youth studies
• Neuroinclusion Champion trained
• Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding trained
• Child-led, inclusive and nurturing approach
• Care for children aged 0 to 12
• School runs for Ysgol Gymraeg y Fenni only

During term time, I am unavailable between 9am and 3pm, Monday to Friday, due to my work and study commitments.

I am currently offering before and after school care, weekend care, and half term care.

September availability (before and after school):

Wednesday
• 2 before-school spaces

I’m really pleased to share that I have completed the AP Neuroinclusion Champion training with Early Years Wales .

This training has helped me further develop my understanding of neuroinclusion and how I can continue to make my childminding setting welcoming, supportive and accessible for every child.

For my practice, this means I will continue to:

• recognise and celebrate that children learn, communicate and experience the world in different ways
• adapt my environment, routines and activities to meet individual needs
• support children’s emotional wellbeing, communication and sensory needs
• use a child-centred approach, where each child is valued for who they are
• work closely with families to understand and support each child’s unique strengths and needs

For inclusion, this means creating a setting where:

• every child feels safe, respected and understood
• differences are accepted and celebrated
• children are supported to take part in ways that work for them
• barriers to learning and play are reduced wherever possible
• all children have opportunities to belong, grow and thrive

Inclusion is so important in the early years, and I’m proud to continue developing my knowledge so I can provide the best possible care and support for the children and families in my setting. 🌈✨

For World Bee Day, the After School children went on a bee hunt at Abergavenny Garden Centre LTD. 🐝

The children had lots of fun searching for garden ornaments and products decorated with bees, spotting them all around the centre. Afterwards, we enjoyed a lovely hot chocolate at Digby’s Café, located inside the garden centre.

A lovely afternoon celebrating bees and learning to notice them in the world around us! 🌼🐝

Cafodd y plant lawer o hwyl yn chwilio am addurniadau gardd a chynhyrchion wedi'u haddurno â gwenyn, gan eu gweld o gwmpas y ganolfan. Wedi hynny, fe wnaethon ni fwynhau siocled poeth hyfryd yng Nghaffi Digby, sydd wedi'i leoli y tu mewn i'r ganolfan arddio.
