🍁 Nearly all of our, quite large, four legged family have gone off to winter homes now. They go off in groups of their friend and/or similar eating needs and are watched by trusted people throughout.
During this time they just relax, a few are fed extra or riden, and all have big delicious green fields, while the land at home rejuvenates and grows again in time for mid-March home time! πŸ‚

Little powering-down-for-the-winter video for all our amazing followers πŸ‚

Hellooooo πŸ‘‹

An investigative ride was carried out this week in preparation for a new trail ride to be arranged for next year.
This ride would most likely be carried out two or three times a year towards Talgarth area if you are interested.
There are even more beautiful views to be seen than usual due to being so high ontop of the Brecon Beacons although quite a chilly ride at this time of year and so will probably not be arranged for October again πŸ˜…

Trekking across the top of the / and 1500ft above sea level for a couple of hours in the last bit of sunshine for the year 😎

Meet the newest member of the Grange team. He is incredibly green and will not be riden by customers for a long time. But he is very kind natured, interested in all things and wants to learn.
Perhaps you'll see him when you visit 🧐🀠

Review by Bev Powell. Riding just last week during a solo travel and staying in our bed and breakfast.

"Well what can I say about Grange Pony Trekking And Accommodation. It was my first ever visit Friday 1st Sept - Saturday 2nd Sept. 2 half day treks, Bed & Breakfast. All the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. My horse β€œMinstrel” was absolutely amazing. The full English breakfast was superb πŸ‘ŒπŸ» And most of all it’s such an amazing place to chill out and relax. The views are spectacular. The waterfall was breathtaking. We got to go to the top of the Tumpa mountain, amazing 🀩 Thank you to everyone, I’ll be back for my Birthday in October all being well πŸ™πŸ»"

Thank you so much for sharing your experience Bev, and we'll see you in October!

Taking the horses to their fields in the afternoons is one of the great pleasures of working at the Grange and sometimes of our experienced or regular customers. With one person at the front and one at the back and the horses go loose inbetween, happily following us to their fields of tastieness.

Big meadows avaliable forπŸ’ƒ eventsπŸ•Ί and β›Ί camping groups 🧘

Last month we hosted an idyllic wedding celebration in one of your big fields. With camping all through the extended weekend and guests coming from far and wide for the countryside peace and quiet.

We assisted with the set up and directions for delivery drivers and guests, and were also able to provide bnb and glamping accommodation for those less inclined to camp.

Many of the guests also enjoyed horse riding during their time on site, while others headed up into the hills for exploration on foot.

If you are interested in arranging something similar or have a question about using one of our feilds, just let us know via messenger πŸ“₯ or by phone on 01873 890 215 πŸ“ž and we would be happy to chat through the unique possibilities for your event or group camping trip!

Muffin, Frodo, Primrose and Ginger here, saying good afternoon, good evening and good night πŸ‘‹

This is Bagel πŸ₯―
♀ He is an Irish cob cross and about 14.3hh.
β™‘ He has been a trekking horse most of his life with some of it being across beaches and the rest now up in the mountains with us at the Grange.
β—‡ He can't be requested unless you have been assigned him before but he is a very comfortable and kind natured horse.
♧ Here he is with the main herd, ready to come in for work and hay 🌾

Horseback views down over the Vale of Ewyas, Capel-y-ffin and the Llanthony Valley 🀩

β›° This half day trek, we explored up to the top of the Twmpa and enjoy fantastic views down the valley, some having never even been on a horse before.
πŸ‡ We all tried some trotting and cantering, the first time for some of our group, and everyone learning new skills and techniques with the horses in their natural environment.
🌲We all got to know one another and our horses, and worked together going around the rocks and under trees throughout our little corner of the Bannau Brycheiniog - Brecon Beacons - National Park.
🌦 However, it did get grey while we were ontop of the mountain and sunnier as we were coming back down, would you believe!

Beautiful afternoon trek over the weekend 🌦 First, we heading up the road from the Grange to test our steering and trotting skills. Then up onto the mountain, trying not to eat all the ferns in sight along the way 🌿 Shortly after this photo was taken we got up onto the Twmpa β›° and enjoyed fantastic views, on our new four-legged friends, some of us who had never even been on a horse before 🐴!

β˜† Receptionist/Waitress/Cleaner Required β˜†

Grange Trekking (8 miles from Hay-on-Wye , in Capel-y-ffin) host a bed and breakfast where walkers, riders and the like, enjoy night's accommodation and food all through the week With the busy next few months coming up, we could do with some extra help were possible, 3 or 4 mornings and/or days a week.

It would ideally require someone who:
β€’ Has previous experience
β€’ Can drive to us
β€’ Can answer incoming phone calls
β€’ Can lay tables
β€’ Can serve breakfast
β€’ Can make beds
β€’ Is friendly and good with people
β€’ Is proactive and responsive
β€’ Is happy in a countryside environment

Please call Rebecca or Jessica Griffiths on 01873 890 215 or message, to chat more about this opportunity 😊

At the Grange we always match our customers to horses🐴 based on our extensive experience providing treks to beginners and experienced riders in the Welsh countryside for decades, and from knowing and riding all of the horses ourselves too.

🀝 After having a good chat with each individual about their own self assessed abilities and confidence, we then discuss how they would feel riding outside in a countryside environment β›°

As some of you know we have quite an artist rich family historyπŸ–Œ Now, the youngest artist of the family sells her own beautiful hand painted and custom designs on-site at the Grange and online. Arthena Cymru spends hours creating unique scenes and patterns on a variety of items, such as stone, candles, boxes and canvas, often using the mendala dot technique and inspiration from their time in the Welsh countryside 🏞

Our herd heading out to the field after a busy and sweaty day πŸ˜…

We es**rt each group in the right direction at the end of each day πŸŒ„ with one trek leader at the front and one at the back, usually walking on foot or riding one of the horses in the group.

All of our long legged friends go out to the fields at night sometimes in a small or big group and with or without rugs, depending on their dietary needs, age and breeds 🐴

Lovely recently review 🌟 Scarlett stayed with us for a riding holiday in our bed and breakfast and had the opportunity to ride a few different horses but found a good partner in Sandstone pictured here 🐎

🌦 Rain or shine we still go riding. Even if that means suncream in the morning and waterproofs in the afternoon. Welcome to Wales! 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

When trekking into the mountains you will develop a connection with your horse.
🀞🏻 Ideally learning to listen to one another and work together. You will have be paired up for a particular reason but at the end of the day, the horses know far more about the countryside than the rest of us πŸŒ„
