Late evening on the Wye.
The Wye is home for the next 3 days. Lovely day training today. Great level too. Enough for no scraping.
Day two at Camp Bestival set up for another day of bushcraft for folk. Fine but breezy. Typical day with penguins walking past! Had to evict a sleeping vent from the stall this morning who doffed his cap apologising as he left. Top of the range festival!
Three more large oak planters from Keep Wales Tidy grant arrived at Maesglas Primary this week. Now all filled with top soil. Bench located and trellis awaiting the clematis to be planted. The cabbages and beans are coming along fine. Hopefully the beans will be ready in September to harvest so we can store them and use for next years crop. The family learning group have transformed this once open piece of grass into a lovely growing area.
Still
More to come in the development plan but we are well satisfied with the progress so far.

A new treat for children today jam sandwiches deep fried. Bush diughnuts!
Dandelion season is upon us.
I found this magnificent specimen yesterday. It’s 55cm long stalk is the longest I’ve seen.
What is the longest you can find? How many times does your dandelion fit into mine? Lots of numeracy questions around being outside.
With the flower head it’s actually 58cm!
What a day of weather. Hail, bouncing rain, sunshine and now that time after the rain when the birds come out in the calm. Aaah!
What a cracking start to the day.
Have been crowned king of the walk.
Unexpected day off. So a couple of jobs this morning after our stile walk in the spring sunshine ( get it while it lasts!) and then a quick paddle on the Usk later. Now the shoulder is better. Good day.
Suddenly had morning away from class so fruit trees pruned, more willow hedge planted and saw horse made ready for wood processing in forest area.
Clag!
The learning resource base planted a willow hedge today in forest School to create a barrier into the new habitat area. So far bug boards. Log piles. Nature corridors. Bumble bee pots and insect hive. Also down some wild flower weds where brambles used to be. Going to be a nice learning area hopefully.
Happy St Davids day everyone.
Interesting article but what we have been saying for years and what happened many years ago before we developed outdoor play out of outdoor play.
