Making ‘Rangoli’ art today in Baby room for the week of Diwali - The Festival of lights 🌟 which is a religious festival celebrated in Hinduism, Jainism, and Sikhism.
Rangoli art is traditionally made using colourful sand and other materials into intricate patterns and designs and is placed in one’s home as a sign of welcome during Diwali.
We used Salt dough for our base and decorated it using Red kidney beans, Black turtle beans, Yellow split peas, Pumpkin seeds and a dash of cinnamon to create our Rangoli art. ☺️

Last week Nursery Room children enjoyed mark using the fruit and vegetables from our harvest display.
Fun in the October sunshine on this Monday afternoon in Baby room☀️
The children in the baby room participated in baby aerobics today. Stretching, bending, moving, and dancing.
Baby exercises develop strength and tone in your baby’s big and small muscles. These activities encourage head control, balance and good posture, all of which are so important for later development and good health.
Lively movement and exercise enhances circulation, breathing, digestion and many other bodily functions. A regularly exercised baby will generally be a happy, healthy baby.
Today, the baby room children enjoyed an edible rainbow spaghetti sensory activity with Autumn items added.
Playing with rainbow spaghetti is a great sensory experience for toddlers and preschoolers.
They’ll enjoy exploring the colour and slimy texture of the coloured spaghetti as it slips through their fingers. It will help them learn their colours.
It will also help them to develop their fine motor skills, creativity and imagination as they find different ways to play with the spaghetti.
Today in the baby room, the children had fun playing in our sensory edible farmyard tuff tray (and may have eaten a little too!).
Sensory play is a great way for a child to develop their:
communication and explore their emotions
language skills
fine and gross motor skills
mark making skills
problem solving skills
social interaction
memory
creativity and imagination
understanding of the world around them
cognitive growth through sensory exploration
More fun with the pumpkin today! ☺️🎃
It’s that time of year! 🎃
As autumn harvest is approaching, we carved a small pumpkin with the children in Baby Room and they helped us make a sensory bag using the pumpkin innards. We also set out magnifying glasses and the empty pumpkin so that the children could have a closer look and explore the inside and outside of the pumpkin.
Messy Play is the best play ☺️

After a fun filled week of picking blackberries and apples from our beautiful grounds, we decided to make a delicious crumble! Some of the children got stuck in to help bake it too! Scroll down for some snaps of us trying it out at tea time ☺️

A walk in the sun for Baby Room this morning turned into joining nursery room on their blackberry hunt 🧺☀️ Some didn’t end up being collected and made for a tasty treat 🤫😂
The children in the baby room enjoyed using the light-up writing boards to make their own marks using pens.
Writing is considered a multi-sensory activity. Basically, as children write, the areas of the brain that control the communication between the brain and the hand are also the areas of the brain that process language. As they are visually tracking what they are writing, the brain is even more engaged. Children who spend more time working with a pen have stronger reading and spelling skills because writing activates the parts of the brain that also controls reading. Practicing letters and short words, especially sight words, will improve their ability to recall what those words say.
Just because it’s raining doesn’t mean we can’t bring the outdoors in ☺️ 🌧 Baby room children having lots of fun with outdoor bikes, prams, walkers and a goalpost this morning.
Baby room Children using ‘Rhythm sticks’ to tap out syllables in their names this week.😊🥢
Rhythm tools enhances the development of auditory skills, fine motor skills, sense of rhythm, body awareness, and coordination of mind and body. Rhythm sticks are also easy to hold and manipulate which is perfect for young children and babies. 🎶🗣
