The low sun lights up the frosty mornings, icicles hanging from bare branches. Mole hills like frozen cairns light up the path.
Many of our mammals are still in winter slumber but our resident robins are busy seeking food.
Catkins and P***y Willow buds emerge, new life is beginning.
We shall enjoy weaving, crafting, cooking, seasonal treats, wreaths, many fires, many games and celebrations of the longer days to come 🔥

One Space on our Spoon Carving Workshop with Harry!!
Sunday 28th April
10am till 4pm
We are delighted to have the wonderful Harry and his wealth of knowledge here at the meadow 🪵🥄
Harry will teach you the basics of carving green wood, introducing you to techniques and top tips to help you along the way. You will start the day with a spoon blank, and using only a straight knife and hook knife, you will learn the safe and efficient way of using these tools. By lunchtime, you will have carved a spoon!
After lunch, the focus will be on the whole process from log to product. You will learn the principles of cleaving wood and will rough out a spoon blank with a carving axe. You will then put into practice the skills you gained in the morning to complete your second spoon!
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners, or any folk who would like to brush up on some skills. What you will learn during your day will allow you to progress towards more carving projects.
You can see more of Harry’s work on his website https://www.sparryhoonswoodcraft.com/

A Drawing & Etching workshop in May with the one and only Rosie Mclay Art
As a fellow printmaker myself I am looking forward to dusting off my shoes and assisting Rosie in this workshop. Not only that but we will be creating the prints in the beautiful meadow, getting inspiration from around us. Gorging on some seasonal foods and taking an optional dip in the river. It's going to be a scorcher!
The ancient art of hedge laying,
In 57 BC the Romans observed British tribes laying hedges to keep in animals and stock.
Great to see 20 enthusiastic people continuing the tradition in 2024 🌿
