Nursery life isn’t confined to four walls.

From a stroll through our beautiful town to fresh air, the park and all those little moments of discovery along the way, we believe children should feel connected to the world around them.

🌿 A real garden. A real habitat. Learning through every season.

The transformation at Abergavenny Nursery Too! continues… and our sensory and pollinator garden is really starting to come alive. 🌾🐝

As autumn and winter approach, we’re continuing to adapt and invest in our outdoor environment so it can be explored, discovered and enjoyed all year round.

We want our preschool children getting lost amongst tall grasses, brushing past plants, discovering different textures and scents, watching pollinators, digging in real soil and experiencing first-hand how nature changes through the seasons. 🍂🌱

Our approach supports the National Minimum Standards, but for us it’s about much more than meeting a standard. It’s about having a dedicated preschool environment that gives us the freedom to create spaces around children’s development, curiosity, independence and experiences.

And we’re incredibly lucky to have local people who believe in that vision too. 💚

A huge thank you to Gav and the team at Abergavenny Garden Centre LTD. From our first conversations, Gav completely immersed himself in what we’re trying to achieve. We gave him creative licence, and he’s embraced it, thinking not simply about what to plant, but about what a child will see, touch, smell, discover and experience as they journey through the garden.

Their generosity and community spirit have been incredible. That’s why working with passionate local people matters to us. They don’t just work on the project, they become part of the journey.

With our natural garden, established trees, Forest School, fire circle and now sensory and pollinator areas taking shape, we’re building on the habitat nature has already given us. 🌳🔥🐝

Outdoor learning isn’t seasonal. Neither is childhood.

Here, children don’t just look at nature. They step right into it. 🌿💚

🌟 A wonderful week at Abergavenny Nursery! 🌟

We’ve had another busy week full of fun, learning and exploring! 💛

👶 Babies have been getting hands-on with sensory activities and exploring the wonderful world of elephants, lions and owls. 🐘🦁🦉

💙 Waddlers have been exploring the colour blue, as well as learning all about elephants and owls through lots of exciting activities. 🐘🦉

🐄 Toddlers have been busy learning about numbers, discovering life on the farm and having lots of fun with weather experiments! 🔢🌦️

🌞 Across the nursery, we have also been exploring the solar eclipse, encouraging the children to ask questions, investigate and learn more about the world around them. 🌙✨

What a fantastic week of curiosity, creativity and discovery! 💫💛

🌟 A wonderful week at Abergavenny Nursery Too! 🌟

What a busy and exciting week we’ve had, following the children’s interests and creating lots of opportunities for learning through play! 💛

🚒 Firefighters!
The children have been learning all about fire safety and what it’s like to be a real-life firefighter. We practised using our hoses, talked about fire safety and even took part in a fire drill to help us understand what to do in an emergency. 🔥👩‍🚒👨‍🚒 We also explored drawing with charcoal; creating our own fiery pictures and marks! 🖤🎨

🌎 Out of this world! 🚀
We’ve been exploring galaxies and planets, creating our very own planets using balloons and enjoying a space-themed water tray. The children have been fascinated by the wonders of space! 🌌🪐

🐛 Bug explorers!
Our tuff spot became a bug exploration station as the children investigated and discovered all sorts of creepy crawlies. 🔍🐞

🎨 Painting with nature!
We got creative using natural resources as our paint! The children experimented with mud, berries and leaves, exploring different textures, colours and marks. 🍂🫐🌿

🧪 Potions & creativity!
The children have also been busy making their very own potions, mixing, pouring and experimenting as their imaginations came to life! ✨🧙‍♀️🧪 We also used water chalks to decorate our patio with lots of colourful creations. 🌈

🎉 Celebrating our special Leavers!
We also said a very special goodbye to lots of our children who had their last days with us this week. We celebrated their time at nursery with a party full of fun, laughter and happy, wonderful memories. 💕🎈

We are so proud of all the wonderful exploring, learning and imagination we’ve seen this week! 🌈✨

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ANOTHER 5 FOR ABERGAVENNY NURSERY! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We had an unexpected visitor today… 👀

Environmental Health arrived for an unannounced Food Hygiene inspection and we’re delighted to say we’ve once again been awarded the highest possible rating of 5! 🙌

No warning. No special preparation. Just our team doing what they do every single day. 💚

Maintaining the very highest standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and safety for our children is incredibly important to us, so we’re really proud to see those everyday standards recognised.

A huge well done to our fantastic team! 👏

🍎 SO… TESCO GAVE US A CRATE OF APPLES! 🍏

And when we say a crate… we mean A LOT of apples 😂🍎🍎🍎

A massive thank you to our neighbours for dropping these off for the children.

Now the question is… what on earth are we going to do with them all?! 🤔

Obviously we’ll eat a few 😋 but we’re thinking baking, apple printing, tasting, experiments, counting, chopping, cooking… maybe even planting some pips and seeing what happens! 🌱

Basically, we’re going to see just how much fun and learning we can squeeze out of one enormous crate of apples. 🍏

And we’re handing some of the decisions over to the children too… because we’re pretty sure they’ll come up with ideas we haven’t even thought of!

A little bit of community kindness turned into a whole lot of nursery fun. ❤️

🌞🌿 A Summer of Learning & Adventure at Our Nurseries! 🦋🐘

What a wonderful summer it has been across our Abergavenny nurseries! 💛

🌳 Abergavenny Nursery One have been making the most of the great outdoors, exploring nature and discovering the world around them. The children have enjoyed learning all about butterflies, owls, elephants and lots of different animals, as well as exploring space and learning about the eclipse through exciting, hands-on experiences. 🚀🌙🦉🦋🐘🐾

🌱 Abergavenny Nursery Too have had a busy summer filled with discovery and new experiences! The children have been learning about the eclipse, growing and caring for plants in our garden, developing their stranger awareness and getting creative with our brand-new play dough station. 🌙🌻🎨

It has been lovely to see the children’s curiosity, imagination and confidence grow throughout the summer, with so many opportunities to learn through play and exploration. 💕✨

Here’s to all the wonderful memories we’ve made this summer! ☀️🌈
