HELP SHINE A LIGHT ON OUTDOOR LEARNING FOR OUR CHILDREN - YOUR WEE VOTE MATTERS!

A wee while ago I found out that my wee business had been nominated as a finalist in the Muddy Stilettos 2026 awards for Best Children’s Business in Scotland 🌿✨
It was such a lovely surprise, and I’m so grateful to whoever nominated it 🥰

Over the last 3 years, the Everwild_nature Woods has become such a special little space for children to lead the way through play, building confidence, connecting with nature and one another, and learning through real hands-on projects and experiences.

Watching the kids grow in confidence, curiosity and joy outdoors has honestly been the most magical part of it all 💛

This nomination feels like such a lovely recognition of how important forest school is in providing and nurturing that space for outdoor play and learning, and I’d absolutely love to shine an even bigger spotlight on that.
There are still a few days left to vote. Winning this would help in continuing to share the magic of outdoor learning and adventures with the kids i already am lucky enough to do so, and to also open up that opportunity to even more families and children 🌱

Thank you so much for all the support, encouragement and love you’ve shown Everwild Nature over these first few years — it truly means the world. 🥰

A wee while back, some kind & thoughtful soul nominated for Best Children’s Business in Scotland, & for that I want to say the biggest thank you. It truly means so much.

The journey of creating this little grassroots business has been filled with excitement, plenty of highs, & of course a few challenges along the way too. But more than anything, it has been such a privilege to have spent time with & gotten to know all the inspiring & amazing children who have wandered the path to the woods with me. Spending time alongside them in nature has been an absolute joy & something I will never take for granted.

A heartfelt thank you also goes to all the parents and carers who have trusted me with their little ones during our woodland adventures - whether at Stay & Play, After School Club, or our Outdoor Woodland Learning days. Your support, encouragement, & belief has helped this little dream continue to grow, and I honestly cannot thank you enough.

A massive thank you must also go to Hamish and Liberty for so generously sharing their beautiful woods & allowing me to hold space there for children’s learning, curiosity, and connection to nature. It truly means the world to me, & none of this would ever have been possible without their belief, help, support & encouragement.

A big thank you to Ross from , for letting us come to explore and learn & to all my other awesome friends incl. , .and.ember.tattoo and and many more who have listened to my endless ramblings over many cups of tea, supported my wild ideas, & made space for all the dreams along the way. You all know who you are, & I’m so grateful for every single one of you.

If anyone would like to give us a wee vote, I’d be so incredibly grateful - it would be amazing to win this for the kids & to help promote the magic of outdoor learning & adventures for children 🌿 But honestly, whatever happens, it already feels incredibly special that the little space we call the Everwild Woods - where children can play, connect with one another & with nature, & learn through hands-on experiences, has been recognised.

An incredible magical start to 2026!

EMBRACING THE MAGIC OF SNOW....

A full day in winter can be tough and challenging, but our adventurer's last week proved that snow days truly can be the best days!

Armed with an abundance of enthusiasm and a towering sense of adventure, awe, wonder, imagination, self-reliance, and copious amounts of energy, the kids were in full play mode.

But intertwined with their enthusiasm & playfulness were countless calm & beautiful moments of mindful observations, where they paused to stare up into the snowflakes, or watched them as they landed softly and silently at their feet - completely mesmerized and transfixed!

They took pride in taking on roles such as tending to the fire, cutting kindling, looking after each other & helping put on gloves or hats, making hot chocolate, heating water for washing hands, and setting up shelters.

They shared the simple joys of being part of a little community, listening to stories around the fire & wrapping their hands around comforting cups of hot chocolate. They stood still, hushed and captivated, as a little Robin dared to weave its way among us.

Despite their familiarity with our beautiful woods, they had never before experienced it under a blanket of snow. It really was otherworldly, & their smiles said it all.

At the end of each day, I couldn’t help but wonder if moments & days like these are like a bridge between modern living & our ancient, primal instincts. The kids’ laughter & simple joy for playing with nothing else but the snow and each other, were infused with a deeper sense of connectedness. In a way each kid reminded me of a snowflake, where each one held their own little story of survival and resilience.

It was yet again a beautiful reminder that we are still wired to thrive in the wild, to forge bonds and relish in the beauty of nature. That even in this modern world, we carry within us the echoes of our ancestors, allowing us to find joy and fulfilment in the simplest of experiences.

Heads up! A reflective post incoming....

When we embrace the challenges that come with being outdoors in winter - especially now that the dark nights are closing in early around us, and the air is damp and cold - it's good to hold on to the fact that we still have choice.

When we embrace it, nature and her elements will still give us those special moments of curiosity and awe and wonder that she has always done. We can explore just the same. We can gain insights and understanding that books alone cannot provide.

Whether it's through conversation, shared silence, hands-on experiences, or thoughtful reflection, real learning is a dynamic journey that opens our minds and hearts to new perspectives.

As we navigate and immerse ourselves in the outdoors, we not only build lifelong knowledge but also develop resilience, social and environmental empathy, and the ability to adapt to an ever-changing world.

Amongst and beneath the noise and weight of today's world, it's important to remember to keep stepping out into nature, simply because we can, and simply because we are lucky enough to be able to do so.
