Introducing Scottish Young Foresters!

Does your young person love being outdoors, exploring nature and getting hands-on with new skills?

I am excited to announce that Everwild Nature Forest School and the good folks from Strathbraan Woodland Croft have come together to deliver the Scottish Young Foresters course - a 6-week programme based at Strathbraan Woodlands, near Dunkeld, in the heart of Perthshire’s Big Tree Country!

This exciting programme will give young people the opportunity to:

- Learn practical forestry and conservation skills
- Discover trees, woodlands and the natural environment
- Enjoy hands-on outdoor learning and woodland adventures
- Build teamwork, confidence and new experiences
- Explore future careers in forestry and the countryside

The details:
📍 Strathbraan Woodlands, near Dunkeld, Perthshire
👧 Suitable for ages 7+
📅 6 sessions: November 2026 – February 2027
⏰ 10am–1pm

Whether your young person is already passionate about nature or simply curious to learn something new, this is a fantastic opportunity to get outdoors, develop practical skills and build a deeper connection with the natural world.

What a lovely evening celebrating with Muddy Stilettos Scotland and all the 2026 winners in Glasgow. I feel like such a lucky girl to have had the honour of winning Best Children's Business in Scotland. Creating Everwild Nature Forest School has been such a journey, but with the first couple of years behind me its been worth every step "up the hill and into the woods", and i am incredibly excited for what the next few years and beyond hold.

There are so many thank you's to share - Muddy Stilettos Scotland for organising , 𝗚𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆 for capturing the evening, for all those that voted for Carol Lang , the parents who have supported and believed in the ethos and value of forest school, and The Big Bairn for supporting me in my first tentative steps into what i once never thought possible.

Least but not last, a special and heartfelt thank you to Liberty and Hamish from Living Sustainably with Hamish & Liberty Martin for providing the space to allow my Forest School dream to come alive and for welcoming the energy it brimgs to the land. To my husband Ross Dempster Beyond Adventure and all my friends who have given up their days and weekends to come dig, build and rig things. You all know who you are!

The biggest thank you of all must go to ALL the kids who have joined me in the woods and who have welcomed me into their worlds. And of course to my own kids - 2 wild beautiful and crazy souls, who have endured being dragged up the hill to also help. One day they will understamd not only how much that means to me, but how much they sit within the roots and behind the inspiration of why i do what i do!

If you are looking for a learning-rich experience for your child this summer holiday - one thats filled with nature, imagination, and inspiration, we would love to welcome your little and big explorers.

So this happened!

Its truly lovely that Everwild_nature has been recognised as the Best Children's Business in Scotland! However, it's about more than just being a business; it's about creating opportunities for children to come back out and into nature, to play, explore, build confidence, spark curiosity, and take away experiences and learning that stay with them for a lifetime.

Every child deserves the chance to thrive outdoors, to get muddy, take supported risks, discover new things, and simply be a child.

We're proud to be a small part of that journey and we hope to continue being so for quite some time yet!

Our wee woods is located close to Aberfeldy, Pitlochry and Dunkeld and is a space where every child can thrive - learning through hands on experiences, nature play, creativity and adventure. 🍃

WHATS NOT TO LOVE - From den building, woodland crafts, campfire cooking, storytelling, bug hunting, nature exploration, tool use, muddy play, tree climbing, games, seasonal activities and plenty of opportunities to build confidence, friendships resilience and connection to our natural world.

HELP SHINE A LIGHT ON OUTDOOR LEARNING FOR OUR CHILDREN - YOUR WEE VOTE MATTERS!

A wee while ago I found out that my wee business had been nominated as a finalist in the Muddy Stilettos 2026 awards for Best Children’s Business in Scotland 🌿✨
It was such a lovely surprise, and I’m so grateful to whoever nominated it 🥰

Over the last 3 years, the Everwild_nature Woods has become such a special little space for children to lead the way through play, building confidence, connecting with nature and one another, and learning through real hands-on projects and experiences.

Watching the kids grow in confidence, curiosity and joy outdoors has honestly been the most magical part of it all 💛

This nomination feels like such a lovely recognition of how important forest school is in providing and nurturing that space for outdoor play and learning, and I’d absolutely love to shine an even bigger spotlight on that.
There are still a few days left to vote. Winning this would help in continuing to share the magic of outdoor learning and adventures with the kids i already am lucky enough to do so, and to also open up that opportunity to even more families and children 🌱

A wee while back, some kind & thoughtful soul nominated for Best Children’s Business in Scotland, & for that I want to say the biggest thank you. It truly means so much.

The journey of creating this little grassroots business has been filled with excitement, plenty of highs, & of course a few challenges along the way too. But more than anything, it has been such a privilege to have spent time with & gotten to know all the inspiring & amazing children who have wandered the path to the woods with me. Spending time alongside them in nature has been an absolute joy & something I will never take for granted.

A heartfelt thank you also goes to all the parents and carers who have trusted me with their little ones during our woodland adventures - whether at Stay & Play, After School Club, or our Outdoor Woodland Learning days. Your support, encouragement, & belief has helped this little dream continue to grow, and I honestly cannot thank you enough.

A massive thank you must also go to Hamish and Liberty for so generously sharing their beautiful woods & allowing me to hold space there for children’s learning, curiosity, and connection to nature. It truly means the world to me, & none of this would ever have been possible without their belief, help, support & encouragement.

A big thank you to Ross from , for letting us come to explore and learn & to all my other awesome friends incl. , .and.ember.tattoo and and many more who have listened to my endless ramblings over many cups of tea, supported my wild ideas, & made space for all the dreams along the way. You all know who you are, & I’m so grateful for every single one of you.

If anyone would like to give us a wee vote, I’d be so incredibly grateful - it would be amazing to win this for the kids & to help promote the magic of outdoor learning & adventures for children 🌿 But honestly, whatever happens, it already feels incredibly special that the little space we call the Everwild Woods - where children can play, connect with one another & with nature, & learn through hands-on experiences, has been recognised.

Step into the woods with us on 29th May for a day of Outdoor & Woodland learning (ages 5 to 12). We will explore tree stories of the past, learn why trees were so important to our ancesters, explore their wisdom, and learn to write our names using an ancient tree alphabet.
