☕🌍 CafĂ© Sci: Discover the City of Languages

Join our colleagues Dawn Leslie and Fransiska Louwagie for an engaging CafĂ© Sci event in June, to explore Aberlangs City of Languages—a partnership project celebrating the rich multilingual life of Aberdeen and the North East of Scotland.

From Doric and Gaelic to the many heritage languages spoken across our communities, this talk reveals how the languages around us connect communities and enrich everyday life in the North East. 💬

Find out how Aberlangs brings together research, schools, councils, and the wider public to champion language learning, connect communities, and celebrate cultural diversity in our region.

✹ Come along, grab a coffee, and be part of the conversation—everyone is welcome!

Following our first Gaelic Summer School, we've gotten some exciting feedback from the first group of students!

'I knew this course would be good but I was concerned that it would be too difficult, or that ‘full-time’ learning for a whole week would be too much too handle. It was definitely a challenge, which it needs to be, but not too much of a challenge, which would have overwhelmed.'

'Bha an Sgoil Shamhraidh math dha-riribh! An urrainn dhut Sgoil Shamhraidh a dhĂšanamh an ath-bhliadhna. Ceud MĂŹle taing dhuibh uile!'

If you're interested in further Gaelic teaching, we'd love to hear from you! We're excited to run more in the future!
