Are you 18+ living with autism and/or ADHD?

Do you support someone to autism and/or ADHD?

If the answer is yes, then Strathclyde University are currently conducting research that may be of interest to you!

The study aims to co-develop a practical, neuro-affirming sleep support with people with autism and/or ADHD and those who support them. Sleep difficulties are more common in neurodivergent populations, considerably more so than in the general population. Despite this, these populations are often excluded from interventional studies, and consequently, existing interventions may fail to recognise or address nuances specific to neurodivergent people.

If you are interested in participating in this research, please scan the QR code on the poster attached or contact [email protected]

We’re proud to highlight a recent project, inspired by Gillian Duncan, Healthcare Support Worker in the Paediatric Assessment Unit at NHS Grampian RACH.

Gillian reached out with the idea of introducing pictorial menus for non-verbal children, helping them to make their own decisions where able, around mealtimes, snacks and drinks🍽️

As Gillian shared, children with complex needs can sometimes have choices made on their behalf at meal times. She is passionate about ensuring these children are supported to be as independent as possible, have choices, and be heard!💫

The Archie Foundation helped bring this idea to life by creating eye-catching visual menus, supporting communication and independence in a meaningful way.

We can't wait to see the difference for children and families 💙
