🌿 Garden Help Wanted – Kidds Club 🌿

I’m planning a small improvement to our outdoor space at Kidds Club to support calm, creative and child-led play 🌱

Before buying new, I thought I’d ask locally in case anyone has anything they’re no longer using.

I’m especially looking for:

🪵 Wooden planks, decking boards or offcuts
🌳 Short logs or tree slices (cut flat, smooth edges, suitable for seating or stepping)
🧺 old pots and pans wooden spoons etc for outdoor play
🪵 Wooden crates or natural loose parts
✨ Outdoor cushions, rugs or wind chimes

Items would need to be safe for young children and suitable for outdoor use.

Can You Help Build Our Loose Play Collection? 🧺🌿

Hi everyone, I’m refreshing my childminding setting to make it more natural, creative, and inspiring and I’m building a loose play collection filled with real-life, open-ended, and interesting items for the little ones to explore.
If you’re having a clear-out, I’d love to give your unwanted bits a new purpose through play and imagination!

Here’s what I’m looking for:
🫖 Real kitchen items – metal or wooden (teapots, jugs, ladles, spoons)
🪞 Small mirrors or compact mirrors
🍴 Wooden or metal utensils
📞 Old phones, keys, cameras, or remote controls (safe for little hands)
📦 Baskets, wooden boxes, tins, or small crates
🧵 Fabric scraps, scarves, doilies, placemats, napkins
🌿 Nature bits – pinecones, driftwood, large shells, corks
🎼 Small musical instruments or jingly bits
👛 Purses, wallets, hats, bags, bangles or costume jewellery
🧩 Any random, safe bits you think toddlers would love to explore!

Everything will be used safely under supervision and spark hours of open-ended, creative play.

When you or the wee ones have spent time in long grass, bracken or woodland, do a full tick check. Especially in these sneaky spots:

Hairline and scalp
Behind the ears
Back of the neck
Armpits
Belly button
Waistline
Groin area
Between the legs
Behind the knees
Between the toes

This is why I still cut my daughter’s grapes!

“X-ray of a grape in a 5 year olds airway - it took surgery to remove it and because the airway was not completely blocked, the child lived. Grapes need to be cut in half (or even better-quartered) for children til they are AT LEAST 5. This happened to a 5 year old. SLICE THE GRAPES, FOLKS.”

Hi everyone, I’m on the scrounge for some loose play items, if anyone has anything they don’t need anymore and would kindly like to donate I’d be more than happy to take them .
Im making up a wee treasure box for the kids to explore through to help use their imaginations in play , here are some ideas - wooden curtain rings, mug racks, bowls spoons, bangles, big blocks, old watches, trays, corks, thread reals and laces, old phones , old keys, Different type or material pieces etc.
