Eureka! What an incredible week at STEM Squad! 💡🧪

P5-P7 campers embraced a week of engineering challenges, problem-solving and hands-on STEM activities at the RGC STEM Squad camp this summer – bringing enthusiasm, creativity and teamwork to every challenge.

It was fantastic to see pupils from schools across the region working together, asking thoughtful questions and growing in confidence as they explored new ideas.

Miss Reid, STEM Squad Camp Lead, said: "It has been brilliant to see the pupils' enthusiasm and creativity throughout the week. They embraced every challenge with confidence and curiosity, and we hope they leave with great memories, new friendships and an even greater passion for STEM."

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an inspiring week of STEM discovery. We can't wait to see what you explore next – and welcome you back next year 💙💛

Mission accomplished, Science Squad! 🚀✨

From close encounters with the Critter Keeper's special guests on Animal Day to tackling outdoor challenges, solving mysteries and getting hands-on with messy experiments - our junior scientists from P1-P4 enjoyed a week packed with discovery, curiosity and fun at the RGC Science Squad camp at Schoolhill last week.

Mrs Jappy, Head of Science and Science Squad Camp Lead, said: "It has been a joy to see the children's excitement and curiosity grow throughout the week. Science is all about asking questions, exploring ideas and learning through discovery, and that's exactly what Science Squad is all about. We've loved sharing that sense of wonder with every pupil, and we hope they've gone home inspired to keep experimenting and exploring."

Thank you to everyone who joined us - we hope you had as much fun as we did! We can't wait to see you again next year 💙💛

Earlier this summer, the RGC Pipe Band and Highland Dancers were honoured to welcome more than 3000 runners to the start line of the inaugural Aberdeen Half Marathon 2026. 🎶🏃

Providing a rousing Scottish send-off, our talented pupils helped create a memorable atmosphere as participants embarked on what has been described as Europe’s coolest summer half marathon.

Congratulations to everyone involved in launching this fantastic new event. We look forward to seeing it return in 2027 with the addition of a full marathon!

As part of his Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Gold Skills Section, S6 pupil Benji completed the St John Ambulance First Aid Self-Teach Workbook and an Emergency First Aid at Work course, successfully qualifying as a certified first aider.

To demonstrate the skills and knowledge he had acquired, Benji delivered an engaging presentation to an S1 class on the basics of first aid. He taught pupils about DR ABC, how to place someone in the recovery position, where to find an AED, and the important message that anyone can use an AED and potentially save a life.

Benji shared: "This experience improved my confidence in public speaking and helped me improve my communication skills. I had to explain each stage of the recovery position clearly, demonstrate the technique safely, answer questions, and ensure everyone understood why it is important for protecting an unconscious but breathing casualty. Teaching others reinforced my own understanding of first aid procedures and highlighted the importance of remaining calm, clear and confident in an emergency."
