Congratulations to our pupils who represented St Margaret’s at the European Youth Parliament Autumn National Session in Newcastle, following their success in the North East regional competition.

Over an action-packed weekend, the girls worked with young people from across the UK to develop resolutions on topical issues, before debating and defending them at the General Assembly.

It was a fantastic opportunity to build confidence, communication, teamwork and debating skills, while hearing different perspectives, tackling important issues and making new friends along the way.

⛰️ Silver DofE Practice Expedition!

Last weekend, a group of our VS girls headed out on their Silver Duke of Edinburgh practice expedition!

Despite some challenging and changeable weather conditions, the girls showed fantastic resilience, teamwork and determination, with everyone successfully completing the expedition.

Now it’s time to put their skills to the test as they look ahead to their qualifying expedition in the coming weeks! Well done, girls! 💪

🏆 8th out of 941 teams!

Huge congratulations to Project Mg - Aishah, Clarissa, Dami, Stephanie and Yashila - who achieved an incredible 8th place in the Cambridge Biology Challenge! 🎉

Their creative entries earned three Distinctions, three Badges of Merit and a Most Original Runner-Up Award, securing an invitation to the celebration event at the University of Cambridge.

A fantastic achievement showcasing their creativity, curiosity, teamwork and scientific thinking. We are so proud! 🔬

📚 Teach & Tell Tuesday is back!

Our first Teach & Tell Tuesday of the session took place in the Junior School today, giving our pupils the opportunity to share their learning and showcase their achievements with their parents.

The girls gave presentations in their classrooms, sharing what they have been learning with their families, before inviting parents to have a look around their classrooms and see their work.

A wonderful opportunity for our pupils to share their learning, celebrate their progress and build confidence along the way! ✨

The Student Leadership Conference brought together a selection of VIS pupils and their peers from St George’s School for a day of collaboration, shared experiences and engaging leadership workshops.

Inspired by Julia Donaldson’s 'Paper Dolls', our girls in 1-3 Junior have been exploring memories, emotions and colour.

After reading the story, they listened to different pieces of music and considered the emotions they evoked, thinking about which colours they associated with feelings such as happiness, sadness, fear, joy and calm.

They then brought these ideas to life through their own creative work, with each piece of paper, colour and shape representing a special memory or emotion. The result is a beautiful and thoughtful collection of artwork, showcasing how differently we can all experience and express our feelings.

A special St Margaret’s tradition continues! Our I Seniors and VI Seniors have been brought together in new Buddy Groups, giving pupils the chance to build connections across the year groups and share advice, experiences and encouragement.✨

This week, the groups met for their first Buddy Breakfast, enjoying delicious refreshments, plenty of conversation and lots of laughter!

It was wonderful to see our pupils getting to know one another, and we look forward to many more opportunities for our Buddy Groups to connect throughout the year.

Our IIIS girls had a fantastic visit to the ‘Art of the Catwalk’ exhibition at the V&A Dundee on Tuesday as part of their design project.

The girls were treated to a fascinating tour of the exhibition by designer Hayley Scanlan, who then led an inspiring workshop exploring how designers turn ideas and inspiration into moodboards. Drawing on her own experience of running her fashion brand, Hayley shared how moodboards play an important role in her own creative and idea development process.

Inspired by what they had seen, the girls then put their creativity to work, developing their own moodboards and connecting their exhibition experience to their design projects. A brilliant opportunity to explore fashion, creativity and the design process.
