The heaviest weight in the gym is often the front door
Gym anxiety is real
For a lot of people, just walking in is the hardest part
Not knowing where to start
Feeling like everyone’s watching
That sense of being out of place
It’s exactly why I opened CN Fitness 13 years ago.
I wanted to create a private environment where you can come in and just focus on improving, without the pressure of a busy commercial gym
When people come in for their first consultation, they’re sometimes a bit unsure and nervous
That’s normal
But I always leave those consultations looking forward to what’s ahead for them, because I know how much things can change
We’ve seen it happen hundreds of times
You start off feeling overwhelmed by the idea of training in a regular gym on your own
And over time, that changes
You build confidence
You understand what your doing
You start to actually enjoy the process

Work load is pretty full on just now. Busy with clients and a lot going on behind the scenes
For me the mental side of training is just as important as the physical. Especially when things are busy, it becomes even more of a non-negotiable
Everyone’s got things pulling them in different directions. Work, family, and various other responsibilities
That’s one of the reasons training matters so much to me
It gives you that time to switch off, reset, and get your head to where it needs to be to show up for everything else

Struggling to get your first pull-up?
Stop relying on bands and assisted machines.
Build eccentric strength first, then introduce full reps once you’re strong enough.
If you can control a 10 second eccentric, your first pull-up is usually only a few months away 👊

Do you remember your first day in a gym?
Nervous, uncomfortable, and wondering if you even belonged there
Now picture two scenarios
In the first, you walk in feeling nervous. No smiles. No acknowledgement. People look straight through you
You leave feeling smaller than when you arrived
In the second, you’re still nervous, but people nod, smile, maybe say hi. No judgement. No pressure
Suddenly, the gym feels like a place you could come back to
That small difference matters more than you think
You don’t need to roll out the red carpet. Just basic manners and a bit of humanity go a long way
We’re all there for the same reason: to improve ourselves

Huge shout out to Leigh 👏
We are so proud of the progress she has made 🙌
Leigh is now over 50lbs down, stronger, fitter, and far more confident in the gym than when she first walked through the door
Before we started working together, she’d tried all the usual approaches
Lots of cardio classes, different diets, plenty of effort
But without the results she was hoping for
Like many people, it left her feeling frustrated and stuck
Instead of doing more of the same, we stripped things right back
We focused on learning the fundamentals properly
Building confidence with the key movements
Following a structured full-body programme training 3 times per week
Alongside that, Leigh followed a nutrition approach that was simple, realistic, and built around he lifestyle
No extremes, just consistency
The progress has been steady, measurable, and ongoing
What’s made the biggest difference is Leigh herself
She shows up, puts the work in, communicates well, and brings a great attitude to every session
Really proud of how far she’s come, and excited to see where we can take things next 💪
