πββοΈπββοΈ Active Schools Summer Series Fun Run Champions Success πββοΈπββοΈ
Active Schools hold a weekly Fun Run series at various locations in Aberdeen for P4 - P7 in April/May. The top runners who participated in at least three of the four events are invited to attend the βChampion of Championsβ race over ~1,600m which was held yesterday.
We had five participants invited to the race with boys from P5 & P6 and three P7 girls.
Weβre delighted that the girls took 1st, 2nd and 4th place. Also, this meant a clean sweep of π₯ in the past four years for our Kingswells winner and the other two have either podiumed or placed highly every year as well.
We know there were many more of our pupils that attended these weekly runs, so well done to all that participated in the Fun Run series and enjoy your medals when you get them.

π Volunteer Appreciation Week π
One of our fabulous after-school netball coaches and one of her brilliant academy aged helpers were presented with awards at the Active Schools volunteer event last week. π
We would like to all thank the parents, carers and teachers who volunteer so our children can experience and enjoy activities.
There are too many to name so I donβt want to miss anyone out but you are all so appreciated.
If children have been representing the school at an activity and you think they deserve a shout-out, please let us know and we can do that. We donβt know everything going on so you need to tell us so we can share with the wider community.

ππ 2 minutes of your time to nominate Kingswells School could win us Β£1000 to add some new and exciting books to our school library for the children. ππ
π Could your childβs school win Β£1,000/β¬1,000 for new books?
With our friends at Read for Good, weβre on a mission to β and you can help! π
Nominate a school at the link below to put them in with a chance of winning Β£1,000/β¬1,000 in National Book Tokens to refresh their library πβ¨
Even better? If your nomination is chosen, YOU could win a Β£100/β¬120 National Book Token to spend in your favourite bookshop!
And that's not all. To celebrate the UK's National Year of Reading, we'll pick a flash winner every week until 24th June to receive Β£100/β¬100 for their nominated school, and Β£25/β¬30 for themselves. That's even more books in the libraries of schools across the UK and Ireland. π

Looking ahead, our final PTA meeting of the session will take place on
ποΈ Tuesday 9th June
π°οΈ 6.30pm
π Kingswells School.
With some members stepping down, we are keen to welcome new volunteers. No experience is neededβwhy not come along with a friend or two? You will be very warmly welcomed. We would particularly encourage families from our younger year groups (Nursery, P1 and P2) to consider getting involved, as representation from these stages has been lower and these year groups are the future of our schoolβyour involvement and voice would be especially valued.
On the same evening, the Parent Council will also hold its final meeting of the session at 6.30pm in the school. The main focus of this meeting will be to gather parental feedback on how well Kingswells School is doing and to explore ideas for future improvement. If you would like to share your views, suggestions or ideas, we would be delighted to see you there.

There are so many ways parents, carers and teachers volunteer for the pupils benefit. It could be by being on the PTA or Parent Council, coaching an after-school sports team, going on school trips, science club, running club, Glee, coding club, and many more. Weβre grateful to everyone who shares their skills and expertise to give our pupils excellent opportunities.
