We had a fantastic weekend at the Glasgow Seminar and Grading and brought home 2 new Ikkyu, a new Shodan (1st Dan) and Sandan (3rd Dan)!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩

A huge thank you to all the Sensei and organisers for making the event such a success, and congratulations to everyone who passed their grading 🎊🍻

Surprise! We will also be heading to Aberdeen for our annual Japanese Film Festival in collaboration with Japan Foundation 国際交流基金.

We will be showing a film about kendo at University of Aberdeen towards the end of the month! There will be a kendo demonstration from Aberdeen Kendo Club before the film starts, as well as a reception with Japanese snacks & drinks afterwards. Entry is free, but registration is required.

This weekend, we were honoured to welcome Junichi Tashiro Sensei Kyoshi 8th Dan and Eiji Ikeda Sensei Kyoshi 7th Dan to Aberdeen for a special three-day seminar.

The seminar was dedicated to Masatake Sumi Sensei Hanshi 8th Dan following his sad passing earlier this week. His legacy, spirit, and teachings were deeply felt throughout the weekend.

Tashiro Sensei led a practice in Sumi Sensei’s style, allowing us to experience and reflect on his approach to kendo. We are truly grateful for this opportunity and for the guidance shared with us.

Thank you to both sensei and everyone who attended for making this seminar so meaningful.
