As a registered Scottish charity, Tullos Training is appealing to local businesses and engineering organisations for donations of surplus equipment that can be used to train the next generation of skilled engineers and technicians. ♻

Every donation helps provide our apprentices with valuable hands-on experience using real industrial equipment, preparing them for successful careers in engineering.

Yesterday, we welcomed representatives from our sponsoring organisations to Tullos Training for a special thank you lunch in recognition of their support. Hands-on learning in action! 🏗️⚙️

Our HNC Mechanical Engineering students recently used a LEGO crane as part of their Engineering Principles unit to explore the concept of power in a practical and engaging way.

By lifting a weight with the crane, students were able to compare:
✅ Power calculated from the work done lifting a load
✅ Electrical power calculated from motor current and voltage measurements

Activities like this help bring engineering theory to life, allowing learners to see the connection between calculations, real-world systems, and engineering practice.

The team at Tullos Training were saddened to hear of the passing of Sir Ian Wood and would like to share our sincere condolences with the Wood family.

We were lucky enough to work with The Wood Foundation over the years throughout the many King’s Trust programmes we have offered to the young people within our local communities.

Sir Ian was a champion for training the next generation of skilled workers and we hope to see his impact live on for many years to come.

Well done to our apprentices who represented both their employers and Tullos Training at the SECTT Apprentice of the Year Competition held in Inverness on 2nd June 2026. 👏

🔹 Jack Mayes of Irvine Electrical competed in the Stage 1 competition
🔹 Connor Sinclair of Ness Engineering Ltd competed in the Stage 2 competition

Neither apprentice came away with the winning title this year, but both performed brilliantly in an incredibly close competition, with only a few marks separating the competitors.

Competing at this level is a significant achievement in itself, and we are extremely proud of Connor and Jack for the dedication, professionalism and technical skills they demonstrated throughout the competition.

⚽💙 A Fantastic Team Effort for SAMH 💙⚽

Tullos Training is proud to announce that our trainees and staff raised an incredible £216.15 for SAMH by wearing their football tops on Scotland World Cup match days.

While Scotland’s World Cup journey ended at the group stages, the enthusiasm, generosity and team spirit shown by everyone at Tullos Training has been a tremendous success. Every pound raised will help support the valuable work that SAMH carries out within our local communities.

Adding to the celebrations, during our recent Annual Awards Ceremony, CEO Iain Garrett announced that Tullos Training will be making an additional donation to increase the total amount raised for this important cause.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and contributed. Together, we are making a positive difference.
