Technology is a wonderful thing, I mean we no longer need to stay up just to phone ☎️ family and friends across the world. We can send 20 whatsapps and voice notes and catch up continually...
BUT that now means that mobile phones have literally become an extension of our limbs. 🤳
What does that mean to our overall health? As a self employed person, I know just how overwhelming phones can be. I also see what time messages are sent and it concerns me that people do not realise the impact this is having on not just their nervous system but their hormonal health.
When you feel you have to constantly be available on your phone keeps can lead to hypervigilance/hyperarousal of the nervous system and contributes to anxiety, sleep problems and even burnout.
This affects many people from all walks of life - this is not a self employed post. Feeling you have to reply to family and friends immediately or even people outwith your close circle. It absolutely destroys focus and creates dopamine responses that keep you in the loop of checking your phone. Everyone knows what stress can do to the body.....
The health and wellness industry has become complicated and expensive.
Yet another trap.
"Effective things do not need to be complicated" Dr Perry. BUT it does require you to be real with yourself - looking at your own habits and not just buying expensive supplements, or been sucked in by the latest "biohack".
So I am walking the walk, I am out of office until 23rd June. I am looking forward to seeing the positive impact this has on my health.
lots of love

Thisnis all too common. Many of my clients have been told "you are just fat" and "have you tried diet and excercise" 🙄🤯https://www.facebook.com/share/1ChMQtXWB9/
A mother of two who spent years wondering why parts of her body were so out of proportion with her slim figure has revealed how a GP told her she just had 'fat legs'.
It was more than a decade after that visit that AnneMarie McGoldrick (37), from Carrigaline, Co Cork, found out she had lipoedema – a chronic condition that causes an abnormal build-up of fat beneath the skin, most commonly in the leg and arms.
'I noticed as child my legs looked different to others. They were very jelly-like, soft and squidgy and I could not find a calf muscle,' she said.
'Pain would come and go and in my late teens and 20s. When I was out socialising and drank alcohol, it affected my legs the next day.'
'When I had my second daughter, aged 31, the pain took over. My legs were very painful and heavy taking my baby upstairs. I had to sit on the on stairs and bum-shuffle. I knew it was not just fat legs,' Ms McGoldrick said.
The first breakthrough came when she attended a physiotherapist for shoulder pain.
'I asked them not to touch my legs because they were so tender. It was the physiotherapist who suggested I had classic lipoedema and it was a lightbulb moment,' she said.
Ms McGoldrick said there was still a lack of awareness and expertise in Ireland about lipoedema. The genetic condition predominantly affects females. It can affect 10-11pc of women. She has had to travel abroad for treatment with a surgeon who specialises in liposuction for lipoedema.
She is part of the Lipoedema Support Network Ireland is organising Ireland’s first national lipoedema conference. 'There is still a significant gap between the lived experience of patients and the level of clinical awareness in this country. We want this conference to help close that gap,' she said

🧠 The Glymphatic System: Your Brain's Night-Time Clean-Up Crew 🧠
Struggling with brain fog, poor focus, or even chronic pain.
Your glymphatic system could be the missing piece.
The glymphatic system is the brain's waste-removal network. While you sleep, it works hard to clear away metabolic waste, excess proteins, and inflammatory by-products that build up throughout the day.
For this system to work efficiently, the drainage pathways need to be as open as possible. The sinuses, neck, and collarbone area all play an important role in supporting healthy fluid movement.
But the real magic happens during deep sleep. 🌙
This is when your brain gets its nightly "power wash" — flushing out neuroinflammation and cellular waste while allowing fresh nutrients to nourish and repair brain tissue.
The result? ✨ Better clarity ✨ Improved focus ✨ Sharper concentration ✨ A healthier, more resilient brain
If you're constantly battling brain fog, don't just focus on your brain—focus on your drainage pathways and your sleep quality too.
Your brain cleans itself while you sleep. Make sure you're giving it the opportunity to do so.
Even when I'm in the gym, I'm thinking about lymphatics.
Not every exercise has to be a "lymphatic exercise" to support your lymphatic system.
One of the things I'm always mindful of is maintaining mobility through my thoracic spine and rib cage. This area plays a huge role in lymphatic flow because it's home to the major lymphatic vessels and works closely with the diaphragm—the body's natural lymphatic pump.
The exercise shown here is working my shoulders, glutes, and core, but what I'm really focusing on is creating movement through my thoracic spine. Rotation, extension, and rib cage mobility help maintain the natural pumping action that supports lymphatic drainage.
When the thoracic area becomes stiff from stress, desk work, poor posture, or repetitive movement patterns, breathing often becomes shallower and the body's ability to move fluid efficiently can be reduced.
So whether you're lifting weights, doing Pilates, walking, or stretching, think about adding movements that:
✔️ Encourage spinal rotation
✔️ Open the chest and ribs
✔️ Improve thoracic extension
✔️ Challenge breathing mechanics
✔️ Create movement in multiple planes
Lymphatics isn't just about dry brushing, rebounders, or drainage techniques. It's also about how well your body moves.
Sometimes supporting your lymphatic system is as simple as choosing exercises that keep your thoracic spine mobile and your rib cage moving. 💚
